It's been about 17 years since Capcom even touched the Dino Crisis franchise, and 20 years since they created a Dino Crisis game that wasn't terrible. But all that may change if we're reading a hint by a previously-reliable leaker properly.

The leaker in question, a Twitter user called AestheticGamer, had previously leaked information about the Resident Evil 3 remake before it was announced. Now, he says there aren't going to be any more Resident Evil Remakes, but remakes but there will be some other Capcom games being rebooted using the Resident Evil engine, "in the same vein" as Resident Evil 2 and 3.

If "in the same vein" means survival horror, there are only a one other neglected Capcom series that could fits that bill: Dino Crisis, which was pretty much just Resident Evil with all the zombies removed and prehistoric creatures taking their places.

This similarity to the Resident Evil franchise isn't the only reason we believe the leak might be referring to Dino Crisis, however. Back in December, Capcom registered a new trademark for the Dino Crisis franchise, along with registering trademarks for Darkstalkers, Power Stone, and Mega Man.

A remake of the dinosaur-based survival horror would probably be warmly received by Capcom fans, since people have been clamoring for more of the series for years, even in the wake of the poorly-received Dino Crisis 3, which made the major mistake of not actually including dinos.

Of course, there's always the possibility that we're completely off-base, and Capcom is instead bringing back something along the lines of Onimusha or Gregory Horror Show. It's also possible that Aesthetic Gamer doesn't actually know what he's talking about and just got lucky by guessing that Capcom would remake Resident Evil 3 directly after remaking the first two games.

Only time will tell what Capcom has up its sleeve, but with how well the recent Resident Evil remakes were received, it seems likely that they'll be revisiting their older games sooner rather than later.
