Discord Go Live is a new streaming service from the popular gaming-centric chat server company. Unlike Twitch, Go Live is a feature designed to stream for a group of up to 10 people only, and has in fact been partially available on Discord already for some time.

Go Live is designed to emulate the experience of gaming at home with a group of friends. The new feature is an evolution of the already implemented screen share, but expands the viewer capacity from 3 to 10. When Go Live launches on August 15, it will offer low latency and the ability to stream to 9 friends in the same Discord sever through the Discord desktop app or Discord in-game overlay.

While anyone using the service can stream at 720p, subscribers to Discord Nitro will be able to stream at higher resolution: 1080p for Nitro Classic users and 4k for subscribers of standard Nitro. Nitro Classic and standard Nitro cost $50 and $100 a year, respectively, and offers custom tags, emojis, an upgraded upload limit (from 8mb to 50mb) and a special profile badge. Additionally, standard Nitro subscribes get to "boost" their server, which provides additional benefits to all the users of that server.

Go Live will enter beta on August 15th and be offered to select users, they plan to roll out the service to everyone over the next two week. Unlike traditional streaming, Go Live allows for the streamer and all viewers to hang out together in voice chat, further promoting the sense of chilling with your friends and playing games.

Another new feature Discord now offers is Server Folders, a highly requested feature that allows users to group their servers into folders for better organization. It's incredibly simple to do: from the side bar where all the server icons are located, simply drag any server on top of another and release, they will automatically join together into a folder similar to mobile apps. You can then give the folder a name and tag it with a background color for easy identification.

Go Live isn't going to make you the next Ninja, but it is a fantastic feature for streaming with your friends. Whether you need some advice on a difficult puzzle or want to party mode Until Dawn, this is a great feature for any Discord community.
