AT&T is selling off Warner Media to Discovery, and has confirmed Discovery now co-owns DC Comics with Warner Bros. through the venture. However, it remains unclear how WB Games will be split.

IGN's Julia Alexander confirmed what the future held for some of AT&T's properties via Twitter, noting that DC Comics and Rooster Teeth were both part of the sale. Warner Bros. and Discovery will both hold ownership of DC Comics.

With the news of AT&T parting ways with some of what it acquired from its Time Warner merger, things still remain unknown on what AT&T will retain and what will go to Discovery. A representative told Axios, "Some of the gaming arm will stay with AT&T and some will go with the new company."

AT&T's merger with Time Warner was approved back in 2018. WarnerMedia and DC Comics were hit with massive layoffs, sparking rumors that AT&T was no longer interested in comics side of its new business. The Hollywood Reporter interviewed publisher and chief creative officer of DC Comics, Jim Lee, and was reassured that the company was still invested in publishing comics.

WB Games consists of 11 studios, among which are developers like NetherRealm Studios, RockSteady Studios, Monolith Productions, and Avalanche Software. There is no clarification yet on where these studios and IPs will land.

WB Games successfully patented its Nemesis System from Middle-Earth: Shadow of Morder earlier this year, something it had been fighting for since 2015, and may change hands via the new deal.
