Dishonored 2 is a fantastic follow-up to the original Dishonored. In this entry, you can play as either Corvo or Emily, with each of them tasked with finding out who the specter is that took over the throne. Lord Regent is nowhere to be found and there is an air of ominous mystery surrounding the world. Armed with the supernatural powers of the Outsider, Corvo and Emily must choose to stealthily take down their foes or go in with full force. There will be consequences either way.

While Dishonored 2 fleshes out a fantastical story where industry and magic collide, there are so many things about this game that simply don't make sense, both in terms of narrative and gameplay. However, the best part of games is the ability to suspend disbelief. The Dishonored series is known for its mystical shenanigans depending on how you play, and the following things don't make any sense within Dishonored 2.

10 The Outsider Powers

dishonored 2 emily and corvo

It's no surprise that the powers that Corvo and Emily have are from The Outsider, as they bear the mark. However, even after a couple of games in the series, The Outsiders' powers remain a mystery to some extent. Are these powers from an angelic or demonic source, or neither?

Regardless, the fact that The Outsider seems to live outside of time itself is mind-boggling, to say the least. Corvo and Emily are able to gain these powers for themselves in Dishonored 2, but it does little to affect them otherwise. They just accept it and move on, utilizing these newfound abilities until the end of the game.

9 All Of The Blood Flies

Dishonored 2 was better - fighting insects in Dishonor

The blood flies in Dishonored 2 are terrifying and disgusting, full stop. A swarm of blood flies in this game turns it from an average stealth adventure to an outright horror experience. These blood flies are ruthless and lethal, often breaking out of their sacs to infect and eliminate anyone in their path.

Obviously, getting an exterminator in Dunwall must be a tough task given how many infestations there seem to be within otherwise decently inhabited areas. How is it that there can be so many of these nasty creatures within the confines of a residential area, and people just continue to live next door? It's hard to comprehend.

8 The Fact That Dunwall Has Survived... Barely

Dunwall, the central location in the Dishonored series (as well as Karnaca), has gone through some extremely rough patches, from plagues to crime, and everything in between. It's unfathomable that Dunwal has even managed to survive, albeit, in a much more derelict manner.

One of the worst things to happen to Dunwall is the downfall of the whale oil industry that was so prevalent in the first game. Dishonored 2 takes place fifteen years after the first game and yet Dunwall still exists. There are even some areas of opulence that still manage to stay afloat. How this city has managed to stand the test of time is a question that may not be answered.

7 The Guards Don't Notice

Dishonored 2 Duke's Body Double

How is it that you can go through many areas in the game killing guards and no one seems to mind or notice? Dishonored 2 is meant to be played as a stealth game, not as an outright action game - however, both options are feasible. While the harder difficulty modes do step up the AI for the guards, most other modes forgive a lot of Corvo or Emily's transgressions.

This fact is hard to understand given the body count you can stack up, often quite literally if you are in the mood for some human Jenga. Equal parts silly and horrifying, guards can often be in a room next door but don't realize the mayhem happening near them.

6 You Can Eat Unlimited Food

Dishonored 2 Council

This might be true for most games that have food items that can be picked up but Dishonored seems to take it to a new level. Strewn all throughout the game world are all varieties of foods, mostly fruit. Corvo or Emily can simply walk up to a plate of food and devour all of it in just a few short seconds.

How is this even possible? Even more impressive is that they are able to eat grapes stems, orange rinds, and whole pieces of fruit without any issues. Yes, it gives you health but it certainly isn't a logical scenario - or healthy.

5 The Clockwork Mansion Is Bonkers

Dishonored 2 Official Art Of A Fight On The Rooftops Of The City

The Clockwork Manion is Kirin Jindosh's master project, a literal labyrinthian mansion atop an island rock off the coast of Karnaca. You can explore the majority of this mansion but it acts as a puzzle in and of itself. How in the world was a place like this constructed and engineered?

One of the most impressive parts of the mansion is the Clockwork Knight Robots that spring to life to take on anyone that dares enter certain off-limit areas. It makes no sense that a place like this would exist, but then again Jindosh is a madman and sociopath.

4 How The Heart Works

dishonored 2 bone charm

Emily and Corvo are able to utilize a custom-built and intricately designed heart to guide them to runes and bone charms, items that provide powerful upgrades. It's clear this heart must draw some power from The Outsider but it's not always clear how or why. Also, how does a fleshy mechanical heart even do such a thing?

In terms of gameplay, the heart is a fantastic tool since it can guide you to items that will help you on your adventure. Simply put, this engineering feat is completely mad and wouldn't exist outside of the confines of the Dishonored series.

3 Stealing Shouldn't Be That Easy

Emily and Corvo

Either Corvo and Emily are expert thieves or this game just doesn't care that you take anything that isn't nailed down. This is a major gameplay trope in many games, but in Dishonored 2 it's incredibly prevalent. You are able to scour the open environments picking up food, notes, keys, and even superfluous items like chairs.

The citizens in Karnaca and Dunwall don't at all seem to mind that you are stealing from them. Yes, if you steal right next to a guard then he might get upset, but for the most part, it's no big deal.

2 Electricity Walls Seem Dangerous

Dishonored 2 is littered with dangerous electricity arc trap walls to stop people - in this case, Corvo or Emily - from entering or exiting certain areas of the city. However, these traps are beyond hazardous, even for the guards. Often times guards will stumble into these walls by mistake, obliterating them into fine dust.

The fact that these exist is unfathomable due to the danger they present to anyone nearby to them. They can be shut down with the proper pull of a switch, but more often than not they are always on. It's safe to say that workplace standards are pretty low in Dishonored 2.

1 So Many Rats

dishonored 2 edge of the world

Dunwall and Karnaca are filled to the brim with rats. While this isn't a surprise to anyone that has played the original Dishonored, it doesn't make any sense that the rat population seemingly hasn't dwindled. Yes, the rats feed on the infected and the plague helps them, but it's been fifteen years since the original game.

How in the world do so many rats continue to exist right near living quarters? After fifteen years you would think the population would have figured out a way to quell their numbers, but they continue to tolerate them.
