I certainly had no clue that Frozen would become the iconic film that it is. Granted, I’m not in the target audience for Disney films, but then again, I know a ridiculous amount of people my age and older who completely adore the film! I resisted watching the film for a very long time. A year or so after it came out I gave in, deciding that watching it was better than an eternity of people nagging me to watch it.

I am happy to say that I was pleasantly surprised.

I love that Disney is moving away from their typical “Boy meets Girl and by mid-afternoon, they’re married” formula. Not just with Disney, but with Brave and Moana. It’s great to see a Disney film that challenges, creates more realistic female characters, and puts forth more original scenarios. I also enjoyed them making fun of their formula and previous films.

But while I fully admire these aspects of Frozen, I am still a nit-picker and refuse to let anything considered “good”, get away unscathed. Frozen has its flaws unlike any other and those flaws are better acknowledged than ignored.

Overall, I love the characters in Frozen, the settings and, while I’d never admit it, the songs. But most of these comics made me laugh and I’m sure they were all made with good humor and good intentions. So…. let it go!

25 So, Now What?

via bleedingcool.com

I’m not going to lie, this was my first thought at the end of Let It Go. Okay, sure, you’re on your own now, there is no one to judge you and, as far as you know, you can no longer hurt anyone with your powers. But, aren’t you going to get bored? Didn’t you have any hobbies in the palace that you’ll miss? Any books you wanted to read?

Also, what does she plan on eating while she’s in her ice prison?

And did she also build an ice bathroom in the palace? Even if the cold never bothered you, surely, you’d prefer to sleep in a comfy bed than on a big block of ice, right? As catchy and relatable as this sequence is, an eternity in an ice palace seems really boring!

24 Every New Day

via blackteakimi.deviantart.com

I really hope we see a little of this in Frozen 2. I love that it’s a story about two sisters who have a really close relationship, but I can’t help but think Elsa dodged a bullet at times keeping her distance from Anna. If this is what she was like every morning before Elsa gave her a highlight!

Surely some mornings little Elsa would have just liked to sleep in. Even more so now she’s a grown-up and a Queen. Her days off are probably few and far between, so if she can relax and lie in for a little while, it'd be nice. But her sister is demanding her attention to make up for lost time, and she’d probably get a little annoyed. Perhaps she and Anna can work out a schedule.

23 Matching Outfits

via chayi105.deviantart.com

I’m not sure how Elsa’s ability to make ice allows her to make dresses as well. From what I can tell those two powers aren’t related. Not only that, but in Frozen Fever we learn that Elsa can add sunny patterns to existing dresses, which absolutely had nothing to do with ice!

However, I know I’m not the first person to point this out, so I’ll spare you all the rest of the rant.

This power probably is a very good way to get revenge for Anna’s annoying. If you could, at any point, change someone’s outfit, then you’d probably do that a lot more then make everything cold. I wonder if Elsa could do this as a child; maybe changing the noblemen’s suits into dresses during meetings?

22 I’m Not Going!

via darikaart.deviantart.com

This is probably where Anna’s hyper annoying neediness would have paid off. Although at this point, she probably wouldn’t have quite been in the full swing of things, still recovering from years of being ignored.

I’m not trying to mock Anna that much. As a younger sibling, I fully understand that the best way to battle your older siblings is with your super skills of annoying; repeating what they say back and poking them repeatedly. I think invading Elsa’s solitude and annoying her out would have been a much better way of convincing her to come with you. It wouldn’t have been better for the end result; the two sisters reconciling, but it would have got her out of ice palace a lot sooner.

21 Villains Club

via carmenfoolheart.deviantart.com

Disney villains are known for their iconic and epic solo numbers, especially Hellfire, which is absolutely terrifying! Hans is a great villain, as the plot twist that he was evil probably wasn’t easy to predict. I say this probably, because while I suspected it, I can’t say I completely knew, and I certainly can’t speak for everybody.

His plot to seduce a Princess then end her and her sister is one of the evilest villain plots.

This is especially as Hans is just a human, not a witch or possessor of any supernatural powers like most of these villains. But it’s bizarre when you realize that his epic villain song is Love Is An Open Door. As evil as he is, the other Disney Villains probably laugh at him behind his back.

20 Do You Want to See Some Orphans?

via ramonerdna.deviantart.com

Even if Olaf is a snowman who likes warm hugs, when I hear the name Olaf, this is all I see! A Series of Unfortunate Events are some of my favorite books and I can’t wait to see season two of the Netflix series! If it’s as well cast and written as the first series, I’m sure it’ll be brilliant.

Given that Olaf can make whatever ridiculous disguise he wants and at least most people will believe him, I wonder how much this would have worked. After all, Anna and Kristoff aren’t the brightest bulbs in the tanning bed, so as much as we’d like to think they’d see through it, I’m not sure. While snowman Olaf and Count Olaf don’t share any characteristics, Count Olaf will always be the first Olaf in my mind.

19 Knights Of Arendelle

via pinterest.com

Who doesn’t love a Monty Python reference? In all seriousness, Arendelle probably has a lot of rebuilding of relationships to do, after all the business in Frozen and Frozen Fever. I don’t understand why Elsa’s sneezes produce little baby snowmen. Then again how did ice power lead to her creating Olaf?

This also seems the best time to ask why eternal winter would be so bad for Arendelle.

We learn in the title sequence that they are big in the ice trade, so if Elsa made it snow all the time, then they could sell more ice to other countries. Maybe bad for Kristoff personally, but not for Arendelle’s overall trade. But if I was a nice, sensible knight, I probably would be turned off a little bit, by the catastrophes that seem to happen in Arendelle.

18 Don’t Hesitate

via teamhans.deviantart.com

So often in films, villains tend to bring their own downfall on them. They make stupid mistakes, forget small details in their plans and, most of all, they keep on monologuing. If you are considering a career in villainy, they remember that the key to success is to keep your speeches short and keep your actions quick.

The only reason that Elsa gets saved during this sequence is that Hans took his time, presumably distracted by thoughts of glory inside his own head, for Anna to run in and save her sister. Hans was going in slow motion, while Anna appeared to be moving at regular speed! Granted I don’t have a lot of experience in this kind of thing, but I do know that swords are heavy, so not only is holding it up slowly stupid, as someone can jump in and save your victim, but because it’s a really hard thing to do!

17 Curse Of Couples

via morloth88.deviantart.com

Given the incredible pressure that’s been on Disney since the Give Elsa a Girlfriend/A Handsome Prince for Elsa, this is probably the best path they can take. Not in shipping her with Olaf, but in avoiding giving Elsa a love interest at all. As much as I would love to see an LGBT Disney Princess, I’d be fine with that. I’m still thrilled that Elsa is above the age of twenty (look up the ages of Disney Princesses...).

This comic shows that Elsa is perfectly happy on her own!

I remember how thrilled I was when Merida didn’t end up with a love interest in Brave, and Moana in Moana. Throughout both films, I was waiting for a moment when they would clumsily bump into a cute guy in a hallway! I like them single, and I’m happy with Elsa being single.

16 We Know Better

via samanthadoodles.deviantart.com

I’ve been very cynical and rude so far, so at this almost halfway point, I’ll inject in some cuteness to help you make it to the end. After looking it up, I’ve learned that this song was recorded but not used in the film. I was called We Know Better and was the sisters singing about defying the traditional Princess image and bonding in the process. I can understand why they cut it out. It would change the plot quite a bit and the sisters' actions are more powerful at expressing their individuality, so they don’t need a song. But listening to it now, it is very sweet and adds another layer to what Elsa and Anna might have been like before Elsa became scared of hurting her.

15 Chatty Snowman

via akapost.tumblr.com

As my boyfriend will tell you, I am a massive hypocrite when it comes to watching films. I will tut, sigh, and occasionally snap at someone who is talking during a film, then groan, roll my eyes and loudly point out a plot hole.

But I’m sure even the biggest Frozen fan would rather watch a movie with me than Olaf.

I know some people find him cute, but I just find him to be one of the most annoying Disney characters to date. He’s so irritatingly optimistic and far too chatty. Watching a movie with him must be like… well, this. When he’s not asking why he doesn’t wear the ring, I’m sure he’s talking about the bad CGI/good special effects or the detailed weapons.

14 Fine, We’ll Build One!

via www.teepublic.com

Even if Elsa was avoiding Anna because of her powers and her fear of hurting her, just imagine for a few minutes someone knocking on your door every morning asking again and again if you want to build a snowman. That’s not really how you get someone to spend time with you. According to the sequence, it took at least ten years for Anna to get the message.

But I do hope that after Frozen, Anna went back to asking Elsa to build a snowman. The idea of her bugging her constantly as revenge for ignoring her is something I very much love. Come on Elsa, why aren’t you building a snowman, Elsa? Just build a snowman with your sister, Elsa! It’s just a snowman, Elsa. Elsa!

13 Give My Sister A Girlfriend

via jjswag21.tumblr.com

Despite what I said earlier about being happy for Elsa to be single, I am completely on board to give Elsa a girlfriend! Disney has tried to include gay couples in their creations in recent years, such as in Zootopia and Good Luck Charlie, along with Oaken and family in the original Frozen.

But they’ve yet to feature a gay couple interacting romantically with one another, or even in a more prominent role.

Even if Disney decide that they aren’t ready for an LGBT Disney Princess, the number of people who showed support for Give Elsa a Girlfriend show that we are on our way. I completely agree with this fan art, that if Elsa was gay, then her sister would be completely behind her and full of pride and support! She was very polite to Oaken and family, after all.

12 Brothers Know Best

via machicon-akihabara.info

I don’t want to put myself out as the villain sympathizer, especially as I’ve already mentioned about how Hans' behavior outshines some of the other villains. But I do feel at least a pinch of sympathy for him, given that this is probably what his childhood was like. Having two older siblings was pretty rough for me, but having twelve must have been really bad. He would have grown up with no privacy, even in a castle, with them constantly prodding him, looking down on him, and bullying him.

That’s enough to drive anyone crazy and want to make a name for themselves by any means necessary. I’m sure that his evil plot to overthrow Arendelle was a plan to show his brothers a thing or two!

11 Let Him Go

via ian-navarro.deviantart.com

Is it just me, or were all Batman villains just massive trolls? Maybe about a third of the time they were committing crimes for monetary gain or power, but most of the time it felt like they just wanted to mess with people! I bring this up because Mr. Freeze is always the first Batman villain that comes to mind when I think about this.

Maybe I’m wrong, but he just seemed to freeze everything to be annoying.

Then again, he was a crook before he became Mr. Freeze. I don’t know if they have Disney in Gotham, but I’m sure if they do then Mr Freeze finds it very relatable. I will now forever imagine him spending his free time in his hideout, singing Let It Go and freezing stuff for fun.

10 Go Back To Sleep

via twitter.com/ydk_disney

It’s alright, I’m not going to call Anna annoying again after this. Well, I might, but I won’t focus on it. Anna certainly is a very annoying younger sibling, insisting that Elsa play with her all the time. But as I mentioned earlier she is making up for lost time (even if Elsa is the queen and deserves her rest every now and again).

As much as I’ve been teasing Anna, Elsa certainly has a lot more patience than I do, and she clearly feels guilty for all the years of ignoring her, as shown in Frozen Fever. She’s an amazing Queen and a great sister. I’m sure this will happen at some point, but I’m not sure how long after the film it will come.

9 King Jack

via fanpop.com

I’m not going to lie, at the time I thought Frozen and Rise of the Guardians were the same film. I didn’t get out the house much or watch my television that year. I hadn’t seen the trailers for either, only the film poster and for some reason, my brain decided not to read the titles, but assume they were for the same thing.

Mostly because Frozen was called Frozen and Jack Frost was in Rise of the Guardians.

So, I’m not surprised that this is a popular ship since I was connecting the two of them before I knew anything about either film! I’m sure they have a lot in common and a lot to talk about, although every lover’s spat will probably turn into an ice battle!

8 Royal Thermals

via moviepilot.us

I’m not sure how cold Elsa’s dress is, again because of the pattern that she adds to Anna’s dress during Frozen Fever. Anna doesn’t look cold after this! But it would make her magical dress make a bit more sense if anything she makes stays cold.

I know she’s magic, and I really shouldn’t question it, but I don’t see how anyone can live in a magic ice castle wearing a freezing cold dress. Even if the “cold never bothered them,” wouldn’t it be really uncomfortable after a while? Surely thermals underneath would be a bit more comfortable, even if the cold doesn’t bother her. Either way, Elsa is certainly better than many of the Disney Princesses! They couldn’t handle her awesomeness with or without thermals.

7 Anyone Miss Me?

via pinterest.com

This is certainly something worth mentioning. As cute as the sister relationship is and the love they feel for each other, would Anna have gone after Elsa had she not set off an eternal winter.

And with all due respect, I’m not blaming her!

If your sister spent over a decade ignoring you and hiding from you in her room, then revealed that she was an ice witch and ran off, leaving you alone in your Kingdom where you have no friends or family, then it’s a perfectly acceptable response to just leave her to it. After all, that’s probably what she wanted, isn’t that what Let It Go is all about? But Hans and Kristoff certainly didn’t go after her because they missed her considering they didn’t know her.

6 Wanna Bet?

via spooths.tumblr.com

Given that the “cold never bothered her anyway,” then yeah, Elsa probably could run from all of this. I firmly believe that if Elsa had wanted to, she could have escaped Hans. She could have just turned around and frozen his sorry butt! Turning him into an ice sculpture before Anna. Granted, this would have stopped Anna saving her and therefore saving herself, but if she had wanted to then she could have.

I suppose it shows the exhaustion of Elsa and her guilt. How she desperately wanted this to end at this point. It's really sad if you think about it this way and makes the ending a lot more powerful. But yes, Hans, if she wanted to, she could throw snow at your face and run.
