Some of our favorite games from the past 30 years were created by Disney and based on its movies, but for some reason, that trend has been all but absent for a while now.

Long-time gamers were recently reminded of how good Disney used to be at making video games based on its movies. Caught up in the remake fad that continues to take the entertainment world by storm, Disney remastered and re-released The Lion King and Aladdin. The iconic games were first released on the SNES and SEGA Genesis in the early 1990s.

Aladdin and The Lion King weren't the only games Disney created back then that have left a lasting impression. Tarzan, Hercules, Toy Story, A Bug's Life, Mickey Mania, all examples of games created in-house by Disney that felt as if as much work had gone into them as the movies they were based on. So what happened? Why are Disney games no longer released in conjunction with their movies.

Disney might be of the belief that it simply isn't worth the money to have a video game division any longer. And those other properties it now owns, such as the MCU, which do have video games are best left to others to develop. As avid fans of the work Disney did with its games during the 90s, we're here to say that it almost certainly would be worthwhile for Disney to return to the video game world.

Just imagine the titles that have missed out on Disney's AAA treatment. Frozen, Inside Out, a follow-up to the original Toy Story games that so many of us couldn't tear ourselves away from 20 years ago. Making use of those aforementioned other properties it now owns and turning those into their own video games wouldn't be a bad idea either. The Simpsons is now Disney property, remember how good Simpsons games used to be?

If Disney is done with games forever and is dedicated to never creating them in-house again, then the least we ask is for them to continue to remaster the ones we so fondly remember. Preferably as twin-packs as it did with Aladdin and The Lion King. If they're taking requests, we'd like the next one to feature Toy Story and A Bug's Life, please and thank you.
