Twitch's annual convention, TwitchCon 2019, is coming up, and the recently released schedule indicates the growing emphasis on creating more opportunities for diversity and inclusion within the gaming industry. A large number of this year's panels are focused on celebrating the diverse community of Twitch streamers, highlighting representation in the industry, and educating audiences on the myriad of backgrounds and stories represented on Twitch today.

Diversity has been a strong part of Twitch's core message in recent years. In 2017, the platform launched the first TwitchUnity Day, an annual Twitch-wide holiday dedicated to one of the company's values to "welcome everyone" that celebrates the diverse community of streamers and viewers on their platform.

The following panels at this year's TwitchCon appear to continue that vital message of diversity and inclusion. All are welcome who are interested in attending. These panels allow attendees the opportunity to hear from a wide range of perspectives that could open one's mind and lead to positive and progressive change. Here are the diversity-forward panels featured at TwitchCon 2019:

Change Begins With Me - Friday, 10:00 AM (TwitchUnity Lounge)

This panel will feature streamers sharing their personal commitments to diversity and inclusion. Those who are hoping to "turn up their brightness" to instill positive social change and impact are encouraged to attend. Speakers include Twitch Partner NaomiKyle and Twitch Affiliate ElisaRockDoc. The panel will be moderated by Twitch Affiliate LoveLaughLeslie.

Streaming Diversity: How to Succeed on Twitch - Friday, 2:00 PM (TwitchUnity Lounge)

Interested in learning how to build a community, expand your reach, and hone and grow your Twitch streams into something everyone can enjoy? This panel, led by your favorite trans streamers, can help you do just that. Speakers include Twitch Partners Amorelandra and Annie and Twitch Affiliate LizzinLaVida. Life in Hard Mode: Streaming with Disabilities - Friday, 4:00 PM (TwitchUnity Lounge)

Learn about the numerous and incredible recent advancements in accessible gaming. This panel will cover the latest software and hardware tools, and teach attendees about how fostering accessible online communities can give people with disabilities real opportunities to connect and earn in ways that are otherwise inaccessible. Just Chatting with Asians in Streaming - Saturday, 10:00 AM (TwitchUnity Lounge)

As the title so simply states, this panel gives attendees the change to listen to their favorite Asian streamers as they discuss challenges they've faced in the industry and how they've built a sense of community among their peers. Speakers include Twitch Partners HelloMeganLee, edisonparklive, and xChocoBars. The panel will be moderated by Twitch Staff Member shindigs.

Streaming While Raising the Next Gen - Saturday, 12:00 PM (TwitchUnity Lounge)

It can be difficult to stream while raising a child, so check out this panel that features Twitch Partners who balance streaming and raising a family. This panel will teach attendees about ways to get around the unique complications for parents who stream. Speakers include Twitch Partners Dexbonus, Ifdeez, GaryWhitta, and Twitch Staff Member Aureylian. Drag On Twitch: Meet The Stream Queens! - Saturday, 2:00 PM (TwitchUnity Lounge)

Hang out with The Stream Queens, an all-drag cast of content creators, featuring queens, kings, characters, and creatures. If you're interested in learning how to create a character, engage with your audience, develop a personal style, craft a costume, and clap back with poise, this panel is for you. The Gayest Panel at TwitchCon - Sunday, 1:00 PM (FrankerZ)

This annual panel features the best and the boldest of the LGBTQ+ community on Twitch. Attendees will have the chance to listen to streamers talk about their queer experiences as a streamer, get tips and tricks for new LGBTQ+ streamers, get advice on how to be a better ally, and learn networking skills as a queer person on Twitch. Speakers include Twitch Partners Bloody, GreenDumpling, mischacrossing, Nikatine, and Shamanom. The panel will be moderated by Twitch Partner AdamKoebel.

Twitch Habla Español - Sunday, 2:00 PM (TwitchUnity Lounge)

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, Twitch is featuring a panel showcasing its Latinx and Hispanic culture alongside featured Latinx partners and Twitch staff. The panel will feature a Q&A and meetup afterward. Speakers include Twitch Staff Member Argie and Twitch Partners LanyDelRey, Elunbekannt, and Nyacchii. The panel will be moderated by Twitch Staff Member pablo.

From Player to Creator: How Women Find Success in the Gaming Industry - Sunday, 4:00 PM (TwitchUnity Lounge)

This panel aims to help women seeking a successful career in the gaming industry. Attendees can expect to hear first-hand experiences on how to build inclusive environments when it comes to creating, producing, playing and streaming games. The panel will also cover how to apply for a job, and gain confidence while building a professional network. Speakers include Twitch Partners Xmiramira and missharvey. The panel will be moderated by Skillz, Inc.'s Senior Vice President of Engineering, Miriam Aguirre.
