As we reported yesterday, the developer of the gladiator management simulator Domina came under fire for including a rant about mask wearing in recent patch notes. For whatever reason, the developer - who goes by the name of Nic online - decided to dish out some dating advice alongside Domina's latest update, telling players to "TAKE OFF THE FCKN MASKS" if they want to "get laid". Now, rather than wait it out or let a community manager deal with the pushback, Nic is doubling down on the views expressed in the update, and arguing with detractors on Twitter. Nic is especially honing in on the sexist idea that he knows what "good women" want, and that the naysayers will only attract one if they stop wearing masks in stores."16 Hours ago, you sad tweeted this. 16 Hours ago, I was balls-deep inside my gf", writes Nic, on the official Domina Twitter account. "Good women EXPECT and DEMAND confident, unmasked men who can still pay for things."The developer didn't leave it at simply oversharing about his apparent bedroom exploits. Among the replies are also claims that he is in fact a "sigma male". He also keeps asking critics if they have a girlfriend, and insinuates that women who disagree with him are not "good" women.
Unsurprisingly, this pushback can also be seen in Domina's reviews. Recent reviews on Steam are overwhelmingly negative. "Anti-masker devs using their patch notes as a glorified Twitter feed. Embarrassing", reads one of the comments. Some of them mention both grievances with the developer and the game itself: "How to ruin a game in 2 easy steps... 1. Add microtransactions years into release. 2. Add a weird rant about masks into your patch notes. Avoid this dev."
Some further claim that content was removed from the game and later resold as DLC. The developer firmly denies this on Twitter.
