The developer behind the gladiator management game Domina, Nicholas John Leonhard Gorissen, became notorious for their bigotry back in March after posting a misogynistic, anti-mask rank in the patch notes, turning themselves into a subject of mockery and derision in the process. The platform in question, Steam, has now finally banned the developer despite its longstanding policy of non-intervention.“Take off the fckn masks,” Gorissen wrote in the patch notes. "Next time you're at the grocery store, try showing a woman your face. Be confident, unafraid of the lies.” The developer went on to say that "women like confidence. Women don't like dudes who cover their faces in fear. What are you afraid of? Getting laid? Grow up."RELATED: Remote Work Has Made Me Appreciate Console Gaming Even MoreInstead of backing down in the face of the ensuing backlash, Gorissen wound up doubling down on their offensive comments, noting on Twitter that “good women expect and demand confident, unmasked men who can still pay for things” in addition to several other controversial statements. The ongoing behavior by Gorissen appears to have prompted Steam to issue the ban. The industry advocate Rami Ismail explained the situation on Twitter by remarking that “I frequently think Steam is too laissez-faire when it comes to moderation, but I will say that that does make it extra funny when they ban a developer from their own hub after being such an intolerable bigot that even Steam considers kicking them off the platform.”

Gorissen claims to be a victim in the whole affair, pointing to a recent ban from Bandcamp. “I like your music. Your music isn't the issue. The way you talk about other people you don't know, who's gender identity does not negatively affect your own life in any noticeable way, is the issue,” someone going by the name of Letterkenny Song of the Day on Twitter commented on the social media platform.
