The trailer for the long-awaited sequel to Pokémon Snap looks stunning. However, Pokémon fans should be wary not to get their hopes up too much.

Pokémon held a short online event last week called Pokémon Presents. During the show, it revealed new games as well as additional features for existing titles. The new games included Pokémon Café Mix, as well as a mobile game designed to encourage young trainers to brush their teeth. Additional features included the announcement that Mega Evolution is coming to Pokémon GO.

However, the biggest and most exciting reveal was all was the announcement of Pokémon Snap. A sequel Pokémon fans have been clamoring for forever. So long that most had come to terms with the fact that it was probably never going to happen. While there is no release date for the game, it did come with a very good looking trailer.

It shows a trainer traversing what we are assuming are various different regions, judging by the Pokémon showcased spanning multiple generations. It looks like a real-life safari except there are Pokémon to be snapped rather than boring old real-life animals. However, anyone who has watched the trailer as many times as we have will have noticed the dreaded disclaimer at the bottom of the screen.

In fact, to make matters worse, there are two different disclaimers during the above trailer. The one at the start reads "game footage not final". Then there is another at the very end that reads "footage from a game under development". Those statements would suggest that the final version of Pokémon Snap 2 will look even better than it does in the trailer. However, Pokémon fans will recall getting burned before.

In fact, that previous burn will be fresh in the memory of many trainers. Game Freak led players to believe Sword and Shield will be more of a visual phenomenon than the finished product wound up being. Hopefully, that lesson has been learned. It always baffles us when developers throw out the "not actual footage" on game trailers. Hopefully, the tweaked wording used in the Snap trailer means the game footage will be even better.
