Don't Starve Together, and definitely Don't Starve Together on the go. Klei Entertainment's indie hit is headed to the Nintendo Switch in Spring 2022, bringing the Lovecraftian survival game to a whole new platform.
It launched in 2016 for other platforms, three years after the original (which is simply titled 'Don't Starve'). As the name implies, it's a multiplayer spin, essentially giving you the same experience but with your buddies. You can play it solo if you want, but the original Don't Starve has been available since 2018. In fact, it's up for grabs right now at only £4.49.
The trailer - posted by Nintendo itself - can be seen below. There are a few cutscenes highlighting the many biomes and monsters you can find as well as gameplay featuring the playable characters not starving, fending off sharks, lighting fires to stay warm, and all the other antics you can get up to in this slightly unnerving, at times Looney Toons-esque sandbox.
"Fight, farm, build, and explore together in the standalone multiplayer expansion to the uncompromising wilderness survival game, Don't Starve," the store page reads. "Enter a strange and unexplored world full of odd creatures, hidden dangers, and ancient secrets. Gather resources to craft items and build structures that match your survival style. Play your way as you unravel the mysteries of 'The Constant.'
"Cooperate with your friends in a private game, or find new friends online," it continues. "Work with other players to survive the harsh environment, or strike out on your own."
As night falls, you're employed with setting up camp, building walls, and nestling yourself into safety. Failing that, you'll find the dark comes to life with nightmarish monsters ready to whittle your health down faster than you can scream, "I don't wanna starve... together!" You also have a science machine to unlock new recipes for crafting which is handy for weapons and structures but also for clothes and beard trimmers - you have a sanity bar to keep in check as well as hunger, you know? And to top it all off, the world is randomly generated and hardcore. If you die, you die.
