Teaser trailers for full-length trailers are a bit of a marketing cliche at this point, but it's hard not to be excited about Doom Eternal: The Ancient Gods Part 2. Continuing on from the continuously increasing stakes of its predecessor, this latest teaser looks absolutely bonkers. There are mech suits and empowered demons galore. It looks ridiculous.

The main thing we get from this teaser is that the full trailer will be happening on March 17, 2021. Many people have been speculating that this second DLC pack will be released on that day, as well. I wouldn't be surprised, especially since it would basically mark the one-year anniversary of the main campaign. What better way to cap off a year of Doom Eternal than with the thrilling conclusion to its story?

The discourse around Doom Eternal over the last year has been surprisingly mixed. While critics enjoyed the game immensely and a lot of diehard fans were pleased, more casual players seemed to be put off by the large amount of dedication the game requires. You can't simply spray and pray like some old-school shooters, which may be where the problem lies.

I have some issues with Eternal but ultimately found the game to be an improvement on its predecessor in pretty much every fashion. I'd rather take a game that properly utilizes its full arsenal and mechanics over something that simply allows you to abuse a single weapon for most of its duration. That calls back to older games more than Doom 2016 did.
