It’s going to take one hell of a machine to run Doom Eternal. Bethesda recently updated the game’s profile page on Steam with PC specs, and PC users are going to need a moderately equipped machine just to run the game at minimal settings. Fans who remember the gaudy settings for the previous Doom title are in familiar territory, but those who are hoping to pick up the new title in a few weeks are in for a surprise.

For minimum settings alone, a GTX 1060 with 6GB is recommended along with a Core i5 with a 3.3 GHz clock speed or better. AMD users need an RX580 with a Ryzen 3 clocking at 3.1 GHz or better along with 8GB of RAM and 50GB of available disk drive space. That alone should be enough to run the game at 1080p and 60 frames at low quality. Yikes.

For recommended settings, Bethesda is saying that users should have sixth-generation i7 processors or Ryzen 7 1800X and beyond with 16GB of RAM and powerhouse cards such as the GTX 1080 or RX Vega56. Those cards alone value at $300 and are meant for high-powered machines, so a previous generation motherboard or power supply isn’t going to cut it if running Doom Eternal in its full, bloody glory is a must.

Here are the full details for both the minimum and recommended settings:

Minimum Settings:

  • OS: 64-bit Windows 7 / 64-bit Windows 10
  • CPU: Intel Core i5 @ 3.3 GHz or better / AMD Ryzen 3 @ 3.1 GHz or better
  • RAM: 8GB
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 (4GB), GTX 1060 (6GB), GTX 1650 (4GB) / AMD Radeon R9 290 (4GB), RX 470 (4GB)
  • HDD: 50GB available space
