Evil Geniuses has moved Dota 2 offlaner Roman “Ramzes” Kushnarev to its inactive roster, the American esports organization revealed yesterday. The 21-year-old has played under the Evil Geniuses banner since September of 2019, having joined the team after that year’s International championship.

Ramzes took on the offlane position on Evil Geniuses, having been the main carry of Virtus.pro prior to joining. Since his addition, the team has finished fourth at the MDL Chengdu Major, and second at both the ONE Esports World Pro Invitational Singapore and DreamLeague Season 13. While Evil Geniuses has managed some success since Ramzes's signing, the offlaner's time with the team has been met with some pandemic-related roadblocks.

Dota 2 competition has slowed considerably due to COVID-19. The 2020 International, which was set to begin in Stockholm, Sweden, this August, was postponed indefinitely. TI10 is now not likely to take place until 2021. Evil Geniuses most recently competed in the OMEGA League: Europe Immortal Division, where they finished in 5-6th place.

Ramzes may return to a CIS team, though it is currently unconfirmed. The Russian native is widely regarded as one of the best players from the CIS region, having reached multiple Major victories and high placings at The International.

There is no word on where Ramzes plans to go next, nor who Evil Geniuses is considering to replace him.
