Dr Disrespect might be getting his own TV show, but it won’t just be a cable version of his stream.

In an exclusive interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Guy "Dr Disrespect" Beahm says that he's getting into showbiz. And not just the sort of wrestler-like persona that made him famous over on Twitch—we mean real, actual television.

"We are pretty early in terms of the creative and the direction we want to take it," said Beahm, who's teamed up with Skybound Entertainment for the project. You might remember Skybound as the media company founded by The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, the same one that swept in and saved the last season of the best-selling Telltale game after they closed up shop last year.

Rather than just a take on Dr Disrespect's stream, the show would be a narrative, scripted TV series based on the origin story of Dr Disrespect—something that Beahm can't do on Twitch without completely destroying the persona. We're not sure if it will be live-action or star the good doctor himself, but there was the word "animation" tossed around in the interview, so we could be looking at a cartoon.

Skybound co-founder David Alpert was excited about the opportunity to work with Beahm, noting that this could be the show that brings streamers into the mainstream.

"There are lots of incredibly talented streamers, but there's something special about what Guy has done in creating this character," said Alpert. "We really believe there's a unique world around the doctor."

Everything is still in the very early stages of development. There's no network and no script, so don't expect to hear an announcement on this anytime soon.

Dr Disrespect is one of the most well-known names in streaming. His over-the-top persona featuring trademark glasses, wig, and tactical vest has gotten him millions of fans on Twitch.

When asked how a TV series might affect his streaming schedule, Beahm said that Twitch has been “extremely flexible” in letting him explore this opportunity with Skybound.
