In a live-streamed "Dragalia Digest" video commemorating the one year anniversary of Nintendo's first original mobile IP Dragalia Lost, game director Yuji Okada revealed that an upcoming in-game event will feature none other than Mega Man, and presumably a story arc based on one incarnation or another of the long-running and ever-shifting Mega Man franchise.

The event will be titled Mega Man: Chaos Protocol, though as of now, no other details have been revealed about how this crossover will happen or function. Okada stated that more information about it will be released in a monthly "This Month in Dragalia Lost" video that will be posted on Oct. 1st.

Earlier this year, an event in Dragalia Lost featured some characters from the Fire Emblem franchise, crossing over into the world of Dragalia Lost though a portal between the two in-game universes. While the majority of the Fire Emblem characters that appeared in the game were exclusive to the time of the event, Fire Emblem Heroes' Alphonse was gifted to players for free as a temporary team member. The character was the first-ever free five-star addition and could join a player's party permanently if his friendship was maxed out.

Strangely enough, this won't be the first time Mega Man and Fire Emblem have crossed over into the same game world, even without counting Super Smash Bros. In 2016, a DLC addition to Monster Hunter Generations added some new in-game outfits and gear taken directly from the two franchises in question. While not a full intersection of the two game worlds, it could nonetheless lead to some scenarios where Mega Man and Marth appeared to be fighting alongside one another.

The "Dragalia Digest" video also announced a large number of additional changes, quality of life updates and special events to mark the first anniversary of the mobile game. These include free summons, commemorative log-in bonuses, new voice lines for existing characters, new bimonthly story content, a Twitter campaign gifting in-game items to users who retweet a Tweet from the game's official Twitter account, and more. Dragalia Lost officially celebrated its one year anniversary on Sept. 27, and judging by its huge financial success, probably isn't going anywhere anytime soon.
