Despite being announced all the way back in 2018, details regarding the next Dragon Age game are still thin on the ground. Apart from the name Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, some basic plots details, and a handful of concept art every now and then, we still have very little idea what the game is going to look like and how it will play. A new report has now shed a little bit of light on the topic though, as Dreadwolf seems to be taking inspiration from a fairly unlikely source.

According to a new report from Insider Gaming, one of its sources has explained that Dragon Age: Dreadwolf's combat will be fairly similar to Final Fantasy 15's. Unlike previous games, Dreadwolf will apparently play a little bit more like a hack and slash, and that there's a combat wheel very similar to the one used in the latest mainline Final Fantasy game. Dragon Age 2 is usually criticised for how much of a hack and slash it feels like compared to the other titles, but the series has never actually fully committed to the genre before.

That's all the info about the player's combat this new report reveals, although it's also claimed that Dreadwolf won't allow you to control your followers like in previous games. Instead, players will only be allowed to pick what abilities they use, which is more similar to BioWare's Mass Effect series. That could change of course, and nothing in this report has been confirmed just yet, but if everything is accurate then the Dragon Age series could be about to undergo a bit of a shake up.

For now, all we can do is wait for another official reveal and look for interesting ways to pass the time. One way for a lot of Dragon Age fans this past week was to recollect some of the pointless facts about the series and share them on social media. This ended up with Dreadwolf creative director John Epler revealed that sprinting with a horse in Dragon Age Inquisition is a big fat lie, as speed lines and camera angles just make it look like you're going faster.
