One of the fan-favorite components of any Dragon Age game is the various companions that you can have in your party, and are often able to romance too. Companions also have their specific side quests where you can learn more about them and their past, as well as grow closer to them.

Dragon Age: Inquisition has nine recruitable companions in total, all of which have their own unique, individual personalities and traits. Part of what makes our favorite companions who they are is undoubtedly the talented voice actors behind them. Check out the actors that lent the Inquisition companions their voices.

9 Sera

Sera is an elven archer affiliated with the Friends of Red Jenny organization who often comes across as petulant and selfish. She is an optional companion who can only be romanced by a female Inquisitor.

She is voiced by English actress Robyn Addison, who has appeared in several TV shows. However, Addison is more notably known for her voice acting role of Y'shtola for Final Fantasy XIV in the main game, all the expansions, and even a cameo role of Y'shtola in World of Final Fantasy.

8 Cassandra Pentaghast

Cassandra first appeared in Dragon Age II but went on to assume a larger role in Dragon Age: Inquisition, where she is one of the starting companions. Known as "the Seeker", Cassandra is the Right Hand of the Divine who, along with Leliana the Left Hand of the Divine, used a holy writ to restore the Inquisition. She can be romanced by a male Inquisitor.

Cassandra is voiced by English actress Miranda Raison in both games. Raison has appeared in several TV shows, most notably 24: Live Another Day and has lent her voice to other game projects, such as Dreamfall Chapters and Mass Effect: Andromeda.

7 Solas

Solas is another starting companion in Dragon Age: Inquisition, suitably fulfilling the healer role for your party. He is an elven apostate mage who is an expert on the Fade and who is a romance option for a female elven Inquisitor.

Our resident hedge mage is voiced by Welsh actor Gareth David-Lloyd who has appeared in several TV shows, with the most notable being Doctor Who as Ianto Jones and Torchwood where he reprised the character. David-Lloyd has also worked as a voice actor for other videogames, such as the Red Faction series.

6 Varric Tethras

Varric first appeared in Dragon Age II where he also featured as a companion, though the protagonist then was Hawke. He is a surface dwarf who is known for his literary works throughout Thedas and certainly lives up to his rogue role with his roguish personality.

Varric is voiced by American actor Brian Bloom, who has a lengthy list of past works that covers TV, film, and videogames. His work with games is where he is best known, taking on the roles of protagonists in many titles, such as William Joseph 'B.J.' Blazkowicz in the Wolfenstein series, Alex Shepherd in Silent Hill: Homecoming, Jackie Estacado in The Darkness II, as well as many supporting characters in other games.

5 Dorian Pavus

Dorian is a human mage from the Tevinter Imperium and a possible romance option for a male Inquisitor. Dorian comes from a prestigious background, but does not agree with the ways of the Imperium and hopes to reform it.

He is voiced by actor Ramon Tikaram, who has appeared in many films, TV shows, and video games. His most notable work is a recurring role in Pennyworth as Detective Inspector Aziz, his role as Terence Mccann in Brassic, and Tavrani in Fortitude. He has also done voice-over work for other videogames such as GreedfallXenoblade Chronicles, and Dark Souls III.

4 Blackwall

Blackwall is an optional companion in Inquisition that can also be romanced if the Inquisitor is female. As a Warden, Blackwall is busy training potential recruits and teaching the locals to defend themselves. However, it is later discovered during the story that Blackwall is a man named Thom Rainier. Rainier assumed the real Blackwall's identity after the Warden's death in the hope of doing good and repenting for his past sins.

3 The Iron Bull

The Iron Bull, or Hissrad if you prefer his real name, is a Qunari mercenary and leader of Bull's Chargers. He is an optional companion and can be romanced by either gender Inquisitor.

The Iron Bull's voice actor is none other than Freddie Prinze Jr. who has a prestigious acting resume to his name. He is probably best known for playing Fred in the Scooby-Doo films, as well as other films such as I Know What You Did Last Summer and its sequel. Freddie Prinze Jr. is no stranger to gaming, having also voiced Lt. James Vega in Mass Effect 3, as well as also voicing Kanan Jarrus in the Star Wars: Rebels TV series and accompanying games.

2 Vivienne

Vivienne is an Orlesian mage who acts as an advisor to Empress Celene. She is an optional companion and cannot be romanced. She is one of three characters that the player can help to become elected as the next Divine near the end of the game.

Vivienne is voiced by Indira Varma, who is best known for her role as Ellaria Sand in the hit series Game of Thrones. Varma has appeared in many other TV shows, notably Luther and Carnival Row, but has also done voiceover work for other games, such as Mass Effect: Andromeda and World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth.

1 Cole

Cole is an optional companion who appears to be human but eventually is discovered to be a demon, more specifically a Spirit of Compassion. Cole is a conflicted spirit who deeply feels sadness and regret and tries to help others in his strange ways. He assumed the role of the mortal mage named Cole who died in a Mage Tower while Spirit Cole was present.

He is voiced by English actor James Norton who is likely best known for his role as Jamie in Flatliners alongside Ellen Page. Norton has also featured in other films and many TV shows.
