Dragon Age Inquisition provided players with the most romances out of the series. Unlike the second game, they also backtracked to the sexuality of Origins, where very character only romanced certain protagonists based on their race and gender.

As usual, Bioware made a hit adventure game with great romances. Every player has their favorite. However, have you ever wondered which of the romances are the most intelligent? We have ranked them from least to greatest on the smart-scale and wrote what we thought of them.

8 Blackwall

Blackwall isn't stupid, but compared to all the other characters in the game . . . he is not the brightest. He was able to hide his identity for a while, but not like Solas could. If you listen to his banters about being a Grey Warden, his answers are pretty generic and not well thought out. It is easy to picture this poor man sweating when dealing with real Grey Wardens in the game.

In terms of surprising us with wisdom or insight, he doesn't have much there either. Sorry Blackwall, but the competition is fierce.

7 Cassandra

Cassandra is one of Dragon Age's best female characters. She is funny, strong, and is not afraid of questions. She is intelligent as well, as she was one of the Divine's most trusted people. She is also one of the individuals to thank the most for the creation of the Inquisition.

Her biggest blind spot though is also one of the factors that fans love about her. She is a romantic. Due to this trait, she can fall for lies. The biggest example of this is how Varric lied to her about Hawke.

6 Cullen

Cullen is above Blackwall due to his talent as Commander of the Inquisition's army. He also is not afraid to think for himself after the events of Dragon Age 2. By Inquisition, Cullen has already experienced, seen, and endured a lot that the world of Thedas has to offer. A dumber man would break with some of the events Cullen has been through. Also, the man is talented at chess.

However, he is still not ranked high. He has blind spots in terms of intelligence, especially compared to the other romances.

5 Josephine

Josephine is a player of the Game, which automatically wins her a lot of intelligence points. She knows how to manipulate people. She knows when to smile, when to send a gift, and whose name should be whispered into whose ear. It takes a lot of brain power to remember so much information about people and their alliances and more so on how to take advantage of that information.

However, she still isn't the smartest. There are others who play the Game even better than her and can take more creative routes to access what they need.

4 Sera

If you don't think Sera is smart, then you haven't been paying attention. She makes up for her flaws with surprising deductions. She was the only character in Trespasser that realized something was wrong before anything obvious happened. She mentioned that the servants were whispering and acting strange, which is never a good sign. Only she noticed that!

Sera understands class struggles on a major level. She even gave Solas a run for his money when he tried to give her advice about revolution. She mentioned that killing a top leader just makes another bad person take over, so she likes to use different methods. However, she still is not the smartest. She can be an absolute idiot when it comes to other types of intelligence. For example, she is incredibly ignorant about magic and the Dalish.

3 Dorian

It takes a smart person to turn their back on their homeland and still claim love for it. Dorian is a thinker. He spends most of his time reading books in the Inquisition library. He believes in progress, change, and is willing to study his brains out for it.

Dorian was raised in a cult-like society that grooms people to be power hungry. It encourages corruption and all those other horrible things Fenris talked about in Dragon Age 2. The fact that Dorian walked out of Tevinter with an open mind for change is a big deal.

2 The Iron Bull

The Iron Bull plays his cards in a interesting way, especially if you sacrifice his Chargers. When you meet him, he gives away that he is a spy. Fans have examined this to actually be smart. He puts the Inquisitor into a sense of security immediately, so they don't suspect a thing from him. If you sacrifice his Chargers, he begins to plot against the Inquisition with the Qunari! Many players did not suspect a thing until the last minute when Iron Bull turns against them in Trespasser. Crazier still, he still will betray you if you romance him.

That makes him an amazing manipulator, liar, and schemer. He also understands a lot about people's mental abilities. If you talk to him about what would happen to everyone if the Qunari invade, he is spot-on with his deductions based on people's personalities. Also, the guy played brain chess against Solas!

1 Solas

Solas made everyone else look like a fool at the end of Inquisition. He was an ancient god elf and managed to instead trick everyone into thinking he was just a wandering Fade-nerd. He knew a lot and managed to get no one to suspect his identity. He even gave the Inquisition a castle and no one questioned him that much because he had the Fade as an out to any question.

Not only did he outsmart all the characters, he created the Fade. He imprisoned the elf gods. We still do not know what else he has in store.
