The relationship of Bulma and Vegeta has to be one of the strangest relationships in the series, with only really Android 18 and Krillin's topping that.  Seriously, how is it even possible for Krillin and Android 18 to have a child? Maybe we will leave that discussion for another time and just stick to the second strangest relationship of the series, Bulma and Vegeta.  Now, you might be wondering why they're considered a strange couple and it's because we need to look back to the early days of Dragon Ball Z, a time where Yamcha was dating Bulma and was also a relevant character. Yes, that's how far back we are going, as this is also a time where Vegeta was essentially the pet of Frieza and was forced to obey his every command.

Vegeta was shaped by this evil space tyrant and turned into a villainous machine fighter. All Vegeta wanted to do was rid the universe of Frieza and take over as king of everything in existence but to do that, he needed immortality and that's how he came to earth.  Vegeta was the cause of many Z-Fighter untimely ends, alien races disappearing, and many other acts of cruelty. However, somehow, Bulma was more than just curious about the Saiyan Prince. At the end of the day, Bulma ditched Yamcha and created a family with Vegeta, which changed the Prince of all Saiyans into a good and loving man.  As a result, Vegeta and Bulma have had two children in Trunks and Bulla, with both of them playing their parts in the Dragon Ball series as well.

22 Bulla Can Transform Into A Super Saiyan

Now, this is something that has been debated for years, with many Dragon Ball Z fans assuming that Quater Saiyan's or lower cannot transform into a Super Saiyan. However, Goku Jr. and Vegeta Jr. prove that this is fictional rubbish. Furthermore, Bulla isn't even a quarter Saiyan, she is actually a half Saiyan just like Goten, Trunks, and Gohan, with us seeing just how powerful and naturally talented they are.

Therefore, we can assume that Bulla has the same level of talent that they do. In the Dragon Ball GT series, we don't see too much of her fighting. However, we do see that she can control Ki by flying around. This is an indication that with training Bulla can too become a Super Saiyan, which is something we might see as the Dragon Ball Super series continues.

In addition, we have actually already seen a Super Saiyan and even a Super Saiyan 2 Bulla through the Dragon Ball Multiverse series, however, that's not canon but it does at least give us a glimpse of Bulla's capabilities.

21 Trunks Can Use The Spirit Bomb

Trunks

Trunks

This actually pissed off a lot of Dragon Ball Super fans out there and it's a little understandable, as there is no way that Trunks would know this technique. Think about it, Trunks hasn't even seen the technique, let alone have had the time to learn it. The Spirit Bomb is a technique that King Kai taught Goku as he prepared to fight against Vegeta and Nappa in the Saiyan saga.

Future Trunks has actually never met King Kai, which means that he couldn't have learned directly from him. In addition, Trunks has never seen the technique, as Goku didn't use the Spirit Bomb in the Cell saga or during Goku Black's attack, which is why Trunks couldn't have possibly have known the technique even existed.

Despite that, Trunks managed to summon all of the energy around him from all living things and stored it within his broken sword. The attack was so powerful that Trunks was able to finish off Fused Zamasu, arguably the second strongest fusion in the series. It's an important moment in Dragon Ball Super and a crucial part of Trunks' character that most fans completely miss watching the series for the first time.

20 Trunk's Sword Was Given To Him By Tapion

Trunks

Now, when you're asked where did Trunks get his sword? You might assume that he found it or simply just bought it from a store, however; you couldn't be any more wrong. Trunks actually was given the famous blade that he used to carve up Frieza and King Cold with by a hero of the galaxy. In the Dragon Ball Z: Wrath of the Dragon movie, we watched as Tapion struggled to contain the evil creature he and his brother sacrificed themselves to stop.

Hirudegarn was the name of this gigantic monster, with only Tapion's flute being able to defeat the monster. However, Tapion wasn't strong enough to get rid of Hirudegarn alone and needed the help of the Z-Fighters to stop it once and for all. One of the characters that gave almost everything to save Tapion was Kid Trunks. Tapion admired Trunks' courage and as a result, gave the young Saiyan his sword as a gift.

As you can see through Future Trunks' attire, the young boy held this weapon close to him for the rest of his life and used the blade against countless opponents. Sadly though, the sword was broken during the fight against Goku Black and Zamasu, however, we assume the blade can be fixed.

19 Trunks Is A Prince And Bulla Is A Princess

Bulla and Trunks

Bulla and Trunks

For some reason, many people forget that Vegeta technically isn't a prince anymore, as his father has been dethroned when Frieza destroyed the entire Saiyan race. This would make Vegeta the Saiyan King, however, he doesn't even acknowledge this (probably due to the trauma of his entire race and family being wiped out by his adopted father).

Technically Vegeta is a king and even if he doesn't acknowledge it. His children are actually the new prince and princesses of the Saiyan race.

As both Trunks and Bulla are the children of Vegeta, they automatically become royalty, however, this is never highlighted in the series at all. The reason for this not being a major point in the series is because of the Saiyan race no longer existing, however, one thing remains unclear. When we first met Broly in his original movie, the surviving Saiyan's called Vegeta their prince, however, they ever acknowledged his son as royalty. I know that Saiyan's aren't the smartest bunch but I'm sure that they could have at least put two and two together and figured that out. So, even though it's never mentioned, we need to remember that Trunks and Bulla are just as apart of the royal family as what Vegeta is.

18 Bulla And Trunks Can't Become Great Apes

It might be strange to think about but Gohan is the only half Saiyan that can actually transform into a Great Ape. The Great Ape form is a transformation that every Saiyan can awaken during a full moon, through a specific energy attack that effects a Saiyan's Blutz or even through a machine that can replicate the same effect such as Bulma's Blutz Wave Machine.

However, in order to become a Great Ape, a Saiyan must still have his tail or had a tail in the past, which is how Vegeta unlocked the Super Saiyan 4 form in Dragon Ball GT. This is why neither of these methods can turn Trunks or Bulla into a Great Ape, as they have never had tails in the Dragon Ball series. Just like Goten, these two were never given tails for an unknown reason, with rumours suggesting that Akira Toriyama may have simply forgotten the tails just as he forgot about Launch. In reality, there is no reason for Trunks, Bulla or even Goten to not have tails, as they are half Saiyan's just like Gohan was and we saw Gohan use his Great Ape form many times in the early days of Dragon Ball Z.

17 Bulla Can Use Her Ki

Bulla

Bulla

Based on what we have seen from Bulla in Dragon Ball GT, she is more like her mother, and not really anything like her father. However, this is a good thing in a way, as she possesses the same high level of intelligence as her hyper-intelligent mom. It would have been interesting to see more, but Bulla isn't really seen fighting very much in the series' that she appeared in such as in either Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball GT, or Dragon Ball Super. We do see Bulla fight and become quite strong in Dragon Ball Multiverse, however, that is a fan-made production and we do also see her fight a little in Dragon Ball GT.

Now, we don't see he transform or use energy attacks, but we do see Bulla fight when humanity is controlled by the evil Baby. Furthermore, we see Bulla fly, which means that she must be able to use and control her Ki. Remember, despite Bulla not having a fighting personality, she is still a half Saiyan and we know how strong and talented half Saiyan's are, which means we shouldn't underestimate her true potential. Sadly though, it's unlikely that we will see Bulla reach that potential as a fighter even when Dragon Ball Super continues.

16 Trunks Had Surpassed His Father In Strength During The Cell Saga

Super_trunks

Vegeta is one of the most loved characters in the Dragon Ball series and is always considered the best behind Goku. However, during the Cell saga Vegeta fell, and fell hard. In terms of power, Vegeta has actually dropped behind the likes of Goku, Gohan and of course, his own son in Trunk as well.

Future Trunks explained that he has long surpassed his father while training with him in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber but was too scared to show Vegeta his power because Trunks feared Vegeta would hate him for it. Vegeta at the time was a very proud man who only really cared for himself and Trunks didn't want to ruin the fragile relationship he had.

However, that turned out to be Trunks' downfall, as if Trunks has told Vegeta how strong his Super Trunks form was, Vegeta may have told his son the weakness that the form clearly gave Trunks. The young Saiyan forgot all about speed and just relied on power, which is a mistake that Vegeta didn't make. As a result, Vegeta would likely win a fight between the two back then but at the same time, it will only be due to speed, as Trunks' raw power surpassed his fathers.

15 Trunks Can Access God Ki

Trunks

Trunks

Trunks is one of the most talented Saiyan's that we have ever seen in the Dragon Ball series; the son of Vegeta and Bulma awakening the Super Saiyan form at an incredibly young age. From there, Future Trunks has awakened the Ascended Saiyan, Super Saiyan 2 and a new form called Super Saiyan Rage.

Based on what we have seen of this new transformation, which appears to be Future Trunks' exclusive form, Future Trunks can use God Ki. If you take a look closely at the transformation, you can see the aura of a Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan or otherwise known as Super Saiyan Blue, surrounding Trunks.

Now, this isn't a proper Super Saiyan God or Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan power-up, but it does awaken some of a god's powers.

Trunks did train with Vegeta for a brief period of time back on earth while waiting for the time machine to be fixed so that they can take down Goku Black. During this time, Trunks saw a glimpse of the Super Saiyan Blue form and must have been briefly told how to access this power. However, due to Trunks' lack of training, he can only access a false version of the form, just as Goku awakened a False Super Saiyan level against Lord Slug.

14 Bulla Became A Fighter

Bulla vs Vegito

Bulla vs Vegito

It may not have been for a long time but it did happen, Bulla did briefly become a fighter in Dragon Ball GT. We have seen Bulla do some great things in the Dragon Ball Multiverse series, a series which showcased Bulla's true fighting potential. This series saw Bulla not only transform into a Super Saiyan but also into a Super Saiyan 2 and take on many strong opponents. However, the real Bulla is yet to be seen fighting. We can't even go from what we have seen in Dragon Ball GT anymore, as that is also no longer canon.

Although, based on what we do know from Dragon Ball GT and Dragon Ball Multiverse, Bulla can actually give off a strong punch. When Baby first came down to earth and started to take over the bodies of our heroes, Baby also took Bulla under his spell. From there Baby forced Bulla to attack Goku and the others, where she showcased that she can actually use Ki. Therefore, this should confirm that Bulla has at least received some training and because of her Saiyan heritage, she has learned some form of battle.

13 Trunks Became A Super Saiyan While Playing

Kid Trunks

Kid Trunks

Trunks is arguably the most talented young Saiyan that we have seen so far, with Gohan, Goten and Pan all being at a similar level when it comes to talent. The evidence of Trunks' extreme talent was proven when he achieved that Super Saiyan form at such an incredibly young age. It was actually a shock when Dragon Ball Z returned in the Buu saga after the time skip when we saw Kid Trunks and Goten unleash the form of legends. It was actually such a shock the even Vegeta and Gohan were surprised to see it.

Trunks and Goten's awakening was significantly quicker than Gohan's and Gohan is considered a prodigy. When the two were asked how they had awakened the form, it was discovered that they had been training but for Trunks, we believe that the training was actually playing. This is how easy it was for these young Saiyan's to awaken the Super Saiyan form and its proof of how talented, as well as how much potential he really has deep down. Again, the Buu saga wasn't nearly as precious with its various forms or power-ups as other sagas in Dragon Ball Z.

12 Trunks' Love Interest Is Older Than His Mother

Trunsk

Trsunks

You know what, I take back everything I said about Bulma and Vegeta's relationship, as this one has to top it. Technically, Mai's body is one year younger than the current Trunks. However, in reality, she is a lot older. In fact, Mai was a grown woman during the first arc in Dragon Ball, back when Bulma (Trunks' mother) was a teenage and Goku was a child. This makes Mai roughly 41 years-old right now, in Dragon Ball Super.

Now, that doesn't really make a difference when Mai is 61 and Future Trunks is 30, as both characters are of legal age.

However, we do see that the current day kid Trunks is interested in Mai. Now, yes, Kid Trunks has no idea how old Mai is, and to him, she is one year younger than him. However, Mai does know how old she is and the fact that Mai seems to show signs of her linking the current Kid Trunks in Dragon Ball Super is kind of disturbing when you think a little more about it. So, as you can see, Mai is much older than even Bulma and Vegeta but because of her young body, we seem to overlook that when seeing Future Trunks and Future Mai in love.

11 Trunks' Natural Hair Colour Has Changes

Trunks
Trunks

I know, Hair Dye is a wonderful thing and isn't a new invention, however, changing one's natural hair color is something a little special and that's exactly what Future Trunks has managed to do. When we first met Future Trunks in Dragon Ball Z, his hair color was supposedly blue, but in reality, it looked white with a tinge of purple.

Yet, when Future Trunks reappeared in Dragon Ball Super a few years later, his hair color was no longer the white that it appeared to be in Dragon Ball Z.

Now, this wouldn't have been a big issue if Akira Toriyama kept everything consistent, such as having Kid Trunk's hair match his future counterpart. However, that's not what happened. For some reason, Future Trunks' hair was changed to pure blue, as it was originally meant to be, but Kid Trunks' hair remained white, just as it was in Dragon Ball Z. This bow means that Trunks' hair color naturally changes as he continues to grow older and older, which means that Dragon Ball GT Trunks should have blue hair as well but sadly, that isn't the case, however, doesn't really matter anyway because GT is no longer canon.

10 Trunks Is Stronger Than Gohan

Trunks and Gohan

Trunks and Gohan

Now, don't get mad at me all you Gohan fans (I am a Gohan fan too!) but I have to admit it when the facts. Clearly, Gohan has been surpassed by Future Trunks. In the past, it was Gohan who reigned supreme when it came to power, with Gohan being the first one to awaken the Super Saiyan 2 form and then long surpassed that at the end of Dragon Ball Z when he became the strongest un-fused fighter thanks to the help of the Elder Kai.

In Dragon Ball Super, Gohan stopped training and lost a great deal of his power.

Yes, Gohan did regain his strength in the Tournament of Power, however, Trunks' lifetime of training allowed him to surpass Gohan. During Future Trunks' time fighting Goku Black and Zamasu, the Saiyan awakened a new level of power called Super Saiyan Rage, which taps into God Ki. In addition, Trunks' new Spirit Bomb-like sword attack allows him to wield a power that could even take out the immortal Fused Zamasu. Put all of that together and we have a warrior that has easily surpassed Gohan in strength. Though Gohan is still more naturally talented and has more fighting experience. This is why Gohan could yet again surpass Trunks ... but for now, Trunks is stronger.

9 Bulla's Story Changes In Dragon Ball Super

Bulla
Bulla

We have seen that Bulla is more than capable of using Ki and can actually fight a little, which means that deep down she has the same power. We need to forget about Dragon Ball GT, as that show is non-canon and wasted the potential of many characters, including Bulla. Step in Dragon Ball Super, a show actually made by the original Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama, which makes it canon and a whole lot better.

Also, it seems as if this new series is rectifying the issues with Dragon Ball GT, which means we may see some differences when it comes to Bulla's future. Right now Bulla has only recently been born and it will be some time before she is in any action. However, we got a glimpse of Bulla's potential through the fan-made Dragon Ball Multiverse, which does honestly remind us a lot of the Tournament of Power, which we got to see in Dragon Ball Super. This means it's possible that Toriyama has read the Dragon Ball Multiverse series and may have liked the way they made Bulla look, which means he may like it so much that he changes the way Bulla grows up. Already, we have seen an influx of useful Saiyan girls introduced to the Dragon Ball Super series, which means that Bulla might follow this trend in the future.

8 Vegeta Refused To Train Because Bulma Was Pregnant

It might come as a surprise to you but Vegeta originally refused to take part in the Tournament of Power, a tournament that determined the fact of not only his universe but the survival of several universes. In fact, Vegeta refused to take part in the trial tournament before the real battle royale began, which was proof that he was serious about not competing.

The reason for Vegeta's refusal was the fact that he was ashamed that he had missed the birth of his first child in Trunks, as he was training at the time to meet the Androids in battle and awaken the Super Saiyan form. Vegeta wanted to make sure that this didn't happen again and stopped training, as well as fighting during the final month or so of Bulma's pregnancy to Bulla.

Bulla, in reality, was still due a few days after the Tournament of Power, which meant the Vegeta would have missed out. Beerus and Whis couldn't allow this to happen and as a result, assisted Bulma in delivering her baby earlier so that Vegeta could quickly train and compete in the tournament to save Universe 7 from extinction.

7 Bulla Isn't A Fighter

I promise you, this isn't a "make fun of Bulla article," however, we do need to point out that in a show all about fighting, she is a bit useless. This could change in Dragon Ball Super, but until then, Bulla is a damsel in distress. Based on what we have seen from Bulla in Dragon Ball GT, she is more like her mother and not really anything like her father.

However, this is a good thing in a way, as she possesses the same high level of intelligence as her mother. We do though need to take into account that we have seen her fight in Dragon Ball GT when Baby-possessed everyone on earth. In addition, we do see a very powerful Bulla in Dragon Ball Multiverse, however, as that is fan-made, we can't really call Bulla a fighter. At least we know that Bulla can use Ki and because of that, there is hope that Bulla might turn into a fighter later on in Dragon Ball Super. It would be a real treat for super fans of the franchise to see the oft-forgotten character appear on-screen again.

6 Whis Was Delivered By An Angel

Whis

Whis

Because Bulla's birth was due a few days after the Tournament of Power, which meant the Vegeta would have missed out. Beerus and Whis couldn't allow this to happen and as a result, assisted Bulma in delivering her baby earlier so that Vegeta could quickly train and compete in the tournament to save Universe 7 from extinction. Whis being an angel, was able to do this with no harm done to the child, with this being only an example of the powers that angels have.

Vegeta refused to miss the birth of his daughter as he was ashamed that he had missed the birth of his first child in Trunks while he was training to meet the Androids in battle and awaken the Super Saiyan form. Vegeta wanted to make sure that this didn't happen again and as a result, refused to fight in the Tournament of Power. As a result, Whis delivered Bulla early and that means that Bulla is technically delivered from the angels look after the gods themselves. It shows a completely different side of the character, and it's hard not have a new found appreciation for the "Prince of all Saiyans."

5 Trunks Was The First Time Traveller In Dragon Ball

Trunks
Trunks

I know that this might seem obvious but in a world where every Z-Fighter hastraveledd through time, it's important to acknowledge the guy who did it first. Back in the Cell saga of Dragon Ball Z, it was Trunks who traveled back through time to meet all the Z-Fighter's in the past and warn them of the evil coming their way. Time travel at the time was a pretty big thing, however, that soon changed.

In the Dragon Ball Z Resurrection of F movie, we got to see all the surviving Z-Fighters from Frieza's attack go back in time because of Whis so that they can save Frieza. In addition, Goku and Vegeta have also used the time machine when visiting Goku Black in the future for an epic fight. In addition, Goku Black and Zamasu used time travel many times as well and as you can see, time travel is pretty important to the Dragon Ball series. Obviously, though, Trunks isn't really the one we should be thanking for the introduction of time travel, it's his mother in Bulma who not only invented but completed major repairs on the machine she created.

4 Trunks Has Traveled Through Time Ten Times

Trunsk
Trunks

We have seen Future Trunks do some pretty incredible things in Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball GT, and Dragon Ball Super, however, traveling through time has to be one of his iconic achievements. In fact, Trunks has actually traveled through time a whopping ten time in the Dragon Ball franchise. Seriously, think about it, the first was to get to the past and warn everyone about the Androids, then he went back to the future before returning in three years time, which already brings us to three time-travel experiences.

Then Trunks returned to the future after Cell was defeated, where he took out the two evil Androids in Android 17 and 18. The next time we see Trunks is when he returns to the past to tell Vegeta and Goku about Goku Black, which brings us to five, before heading to the future with them to take out Goku Black, which is his sixth trip. Later on, they are defeated and escape back to the past for more training (seven) and then return to the future and beat Goku Black (eight). However, our heroes needed the help of Zeno to really eradicate the evil Kai and that lead them to escape back to the past (nine), where they decided to travel back to the future later on when Zeno had cleaned up the mess (ten).

3 Bulla And Trunks Were Born Without Saiyan Tails

Just like Goten, these two Saiyan's were never given tails for an unknown reason, with rumours suggesting that Akira Toriyama may have simply forgotten the tails just as he forgot about Launch. In reality, there is no reason for Trunks, Bulla or even Goten to not have tails, as they are half Saiyan's just like Gohan was and we saw Gohan use his Great Ape form many times in the early days of Dragon Ball Z.

The Great Ape form is a transformation that every Saiyan can awaken during a full moon, through a specific energy attack that effects a Saiyan's Blutz or even through a machine that can replicate the same effect such as Bulma's Blutz Wave Machine. Because Trunks and Bulla never had tails to begin with we will never see them use this transformation, as it cannot be done without having a tail, to begin with. Yes, it doesn't make sense that the two don't have tails, as they should have one just like Gohan does but form some reason these two just missed out on the basic Saiyanbiologyy. In retrospect, it seems fairly obvious that Akira Toriyama just didn't like drawing hair/tales, which would explain their absence.
