Yup, we're still at that stage where we're left asking where the (dragon) balls the rest of our DLC for Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is hiding. Seriously, we've had our hopes up for a good long while, what with over two months having passed since the release of the game's first DLC at the end of April, so we deserve some more now don't we?
Bandai Namco's radio silence isn't entirely unlike what's happened in the past, however. It took a whole two months after the release of the base game - which was unleashed upon the world in January of this year - before any signs of an imminent DLC coming into being began showing. Even then, those signs first came in the form of leaked details from Ken Xyro, a (pretty reliable) Japanese translator and fan of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot.
A few more weeks would still have to pass before an official announcement was then made by Bandai Namco, confirming that the first DLC was due to drop a week thereafter on April 28th. The DLC - entitled A New Power Awakens - Part 1 - would enable a new transformation in the form of Super Saiyan God for both Goku and Vegeta, feature training regimens with Whis, and an intense boss fight with Beerus the Destroyer.
Fans devoured the DLC, but were left a bit unsatisfied thanks to its short playtime and a lack of "real end game content."
Now, more than two months after the release of the first DLC we're more antsy than ever for more action, but unfortunately we still don't have all that much to go on at this point. We just have the echoing promise that A New Power Awakens - Part 2 is forecasted to be released "later this year," and that it'll be included in Kakarot's season pass as Part 1 was.
We do also know that the second DLC will take on a similar form as the first, being a boss battle episode (which has been hypothesized as featuring either Golden Frieza or Hit). So presumably players can expect more training with Whis and to see a new Super Saiyan Blue transformation.
There has been endless speculation over the past few weeks, with fans hoping that the past pattern would emerge for the second DLC as it did for the first one, namely a three month gap between releases. That would mean that later this month we should start seeing some signs of life, but of course at this point that's just hopeful conjecture made by fans hungry for more.
It's of course very possible that the delays which the COVID-19 pandemic have been incessantly lashing basically all operations with this year have had something to do with the lack of action going on.
So it seems for now all we can really do is put on our Patience Pants and keep an eye out for any sudden changes. And that's another thing - it's not unlikely that Bandai Namco could pounce at us out of nowhere with an announcement a mere week before the DLC's actual release, so don't lose hope just yet.
