Bandai Namco has released a new gallery of screenshots today from its upcoming game Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. The screenshots show off a new mechanic: the ability to find the seven dragon balls scatted across the world. Once doing so, players will actually be able to summon Shenron, controller of the Dragon Ball's powers.

As is common in the show, summoning Shenron will allow you to revive dead characters. This gives players the chance to create match-ups that don't happen during the story. You can also fight old enemies with a new transformation. These fights will feature unique dialogue, as well, though it's unknown if you'll be able to wish for other things (such as items or health).

An issue of V-Jump magazine also revealed that enemies more powerful than normal will randomly show up in the game world. Successfully defeating them will provide a lot of experience, among other rewards. Each android, various forms of Cell and Buu, and Spopovich (the guy Videl fights at the Budokai Tenkaichi) have been confirmed to make an appearance.

The Dragon Ball Z franchise has been in a good place since last year's release of Dragon Ball FighterZKakarot hopes to continue the trend of solid Dragon Ball games with gameplay trailers and demos have looked stellar so far. Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot will be a free-roaming action RPG with battles controlling similarly to an anime arena fighter. Outside of combat, players will be able to fly around the world completing side quests and playing minigames.

The plot of the game is a retelling of the anime. Players will go through all of the anime's different arcs, encountering boss characters and other sub-lots along the way. Despite the slightly misleading title, you'll be able to play as Vegeta, Gohan, Piccolo, and a few others.

From the look of it, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot will be one of the best DBZ game ever released. At the very least, it seems like it will be a fan-favorite.
