The whole point of Dragon Quest Treasures is to fill that vault. So, unsurprisingly, you are going to be spending a lot of time scouring the world for treasure. But where are these treasures? Well, their location changes run-to-run. Or does it? You see, while treasures may not always appear in the same locations, there are set locations in which they appear.
And that is where this guide comes in, we are going to point you in the direction of all the Treasure. If you enter the field, these are the locations you should bounce between. Consider the helpful map below to be a second treasure vision of sorts!
Updated December 28, 2022: We think this guide needed updating. Too much space was given to the Bric-A-Brac, which just feels like it shouldn't be an emphasis, as it is best ignored by the mid-game. Moreover, we hadn't covered the Lower Paternoggin in the first pass. This update should rectify all of that.
Overview
Before we dive in there are a few things worth noting. One thing is that it appears that certain locations can be either Bric-A-Brac or Treasures. At times, the Bric-A-Brac will appear where Treasures are typically found, but the Treasure always appears to show up in the same handful of locations.
We are also certain that this list is not comprehensive. There is no place that confirms if you have found every location or not. However, this guide should give you a pretty good idea of where to find most treasure while on The Paternoggin.
Treasure In The Upper Paternoggin
Treasure is one of the many types of, well, treasure you will encounter in Dragon Quest Treasures—bear with us, the word "treasure" may end up losing all meaning by the end of this guide. These valuable chests are located using your treasure vision (which is your chosen hero's Forte). From there, a compass will point you in the correct direction. Finally, when you get close enough, you will see the location through your monsters' eyes.
This first section will show you many of the Treasure locations in the Upper section of The Paternoggin. This is where you will be doing your first batch of treasure hunting.
As you will see, there is actually a pretty healthy amount of Treasure that appears in the Sylphanian Stockade. So, this is often one of the best places to go to find a healthy amount of treasure. If you talk to the expedition member hanging around the campfire, you can fast travel directly there.

Bric-A-Brac Locations
Bric-A-Brac is another form of treasure you will encounter in the game. You can only get Bric-A-Brac by having your monsters sense it. Your treasure vision will not help you here. Briic-A-Brac basically goes by the system of hot and cold. Your monsters will show greater enthusiasm the closer you get. However, it isn't nearly as valuable as proper treasure. So, once you get to the half-way point in the game, you will want to almost exclusively focus on Treasure and not Bric-A-Brac. Moreover, if you come to The Paternoggin with the right monsters, and have a high Golden Ratio (ideally 100%), you won't struggle to find the Bric-A-Brac.
The image above shows just how incredibly abundant Bric-A-Brac is. We initially intended to show where the Bric-A-Brac can be found, but there are so many places this type of treasure can appear that it is a futile task.
