A large chunk of Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age - Definitive Edition can now be experienced for free, as a ten-hour demo recently became available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

The Definitive Edition of Dragon Quest XI adds a ton of new content to the game, including brand new chapters that focus on the individual party members, a series of 2D quests set in the worlds of the older Dragon Quest games, and a number of quality of life improvements. This edition of the game is already available on Nintendo Switch, but it's coming to the other consoles and Steam next month.

A massive demo for Dragon Quest XI S is available now on consoles and PC, as announced by the official Dragon Quest Twitter account. This is the same demo that was released for the Switch version of the game, and it's roughly ten hours long. Also, you don't need to worry about being won over by the game or having to repeat this starting section over, as any progress you make in the demo can be carried over to the retail release.

The people who play the demo of Dragon Quest XI S will also receive a Seed of Skill, which can grant an additional skill point to one of your party members. Dragon Quest XI S uses a skill point system that is mostly tied to the weapons used by the party and new points are awarded when leveling up, so you only have a finite amount.

Dragon Quest XI S was incredible on the Switch, but it had a few technical hang-ups caused by the hardware. Fortunately, the new ports of Dragon Quest XI S will do away with the visual issues experienced on the Switch, allowing it to look as impressive as the base version of the game. Ten hours is an amazing amount of time for a demo, so you should make the most of this opportunity and try it out.
