As one of the best Dragon Ball games of all time, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 had a massive roster, deep customization options, and more techniques than even Goku himself could steal. While no official announcement has been made yet, the success of Xenoverse 2 and the popularity of Akira Toriyama's baby almost guarantees that it will happen.

To brainstorm some ideas for the sequel, we have some things that we would like to see dropped from the franchise and some new elements that should be introduced. If you're a Xenoverse fan, we're sure you'll echo our thoughts exactly on these. Let's dig into the list!

10 Drop: Expansion Pack Feel

via wtfgamersonly.com

While Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 was a clear improvement over the first installment, we couldn't help but feel that it largely felt like an expansion pack of the original game rather than a full-fledged sequel.

At launch, Xenoverse 2 lacked much in terms of new content and felt more like a refinement of everything introduced in the first game. Xenoverse 3 needs to make a big leap forward to keep the franchise feeling fresh.

9 Need: New Races

In the two Xenoverse titles, the five races featured in the game were all the same: Humans, Saiyans, Majins, Namekians, and Frieza Race. All those races felt distinct from each other but if a third game is made, some new species are in order.

The obvious contender for the next race is Androids. There are tons of them in the Dragon Ball franchise and while they might not be too visually unique, their gimmick of never running out of energy can ensure that they have the highest stamina out of any race in the game.

8 Drop: Awful Parallel Quest Drop Rates

No Xenoverse fan can tell you with a straight face that they are happy with the drop rates in the Parallel Quests featured in both currently available games. While the sequel's drop rates weren't as bad as the first, they were still frustrating.

We understand that the grind is a tenet of the genre Xenoverse occupies, but if we have to bash the Androids for the millionth time to get the skill we wanted, we will go Super Saiyan on our consoles.

7 Need: Focus On Super

In both Xenoverse games, the franchise went back to the beginning of Dragon Ball Z with the fight against Raditz, before gradually making it all the way to the end of the Buu saga with a bit of original content thrown in.

While both games had additional DLC, a third game in the franchise could do well by focusing almost exclusively on Dragon Ball Super. Being the most recent anime in the franchise and not having a million games featuring its story, Xenoverse 3 can separate itself from its predecessors with a story focusing on Super.

6 Drop: Terrible Lobby System

We understand the lobby system that Dimps was going for with the first two Xenoverse games. With its city hub area, you're able to interact with other icons from the franchise and explore a sprawling metropolis of sorts.

However, in practice, the lobby is a confusing mess that makes forming teams for missions a huge pain in the Saiyan tail. We wouldn't be sad at all to see Conton City and the whole system be streamlined for easier understanding and functionality.

5 Need: Race Rebalancing

In terms of Dragon Ball canon, it makes sense that the Saiyans would get the most transformations. However, in terms of gameplay, it is a bit frustrating that the Saiyan tool kit seems much larger than - for example - the Namekians.

If a third Xenoverse game is made, it would be great if the existing races and any new ones could all have a bit more of an even playing field. It may not be loyal to the canon, but neither is Hercule being able to damage Beerus but that is possible in these games.

4 Drop: Multiple Currencies

In Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, players would collect two currencies that would allow them to purchase cosmetic items, new moves, and more. Those two would be Zeni (which you can acquire tons of quite easily) and TP medals (which are easier to burn through in a shopping spree).

This is a minor point compared to the other entries on the list, but simplifying things by chopping this down to one currency for all shops would be best for everyone. However, NO MICROTRANSACTIONS PLEASE!!

3 Need: Unique/Upgradable Combo Strings

Unlike other RPGs, in the Xenoverse games, your base and starting moveset (standard combos) remains the same from the start all the way to the end of the game. This causes combat to get old real quick. You can only hit the enemy with the same light, light, light, heavy combo before things begin to feel stale.

A cool addition for a new sequel would be customizable attack strings that level up as the story moves on. You already pick up more special moves as time goes on, so why not new attack strings as well?

2 Drop: Linear Story

While Xenoverse 2 flirted with the idea of branching paths in its story, your choices don't really amount to much as the narrative is largely a linear one. Aside from slight changes in dialogue, nothing much happens.

If Dimps want players to get more invested in the story, a good way to do this would be to give players more influence on their narrative choices. What if you can go bad and side with the villains of the story? Or what if your master influences how you are perceived by others? These are all just ideas but if fleshed out properly can make Xenoverse 3's story actually worth playing more than once.

1 Need: Player Fusion

One of the most welcome recent video game surprises related to Akira Toriyama's series was the Nintendo 3DS game Dragon Ball Fusions. In that title, players are able to fuse their own custom avatar with other characters from across Dragon Ball.

Now you tell us that a similar system like that wouldn't kick all of the ass in a Xenoverse title? With the depth of customization in this series combined with a fusion system, this would a Xenoverse fan's wish on the seven Dragon Balls come true.
