Since launch, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite has had fans stoking the rumor mill, with speculation as to when Dragons would make an in-game appearance. Wait no more! Over the last weekend of August, Wizards Unite held its first 'Fan Festival' (similar to Pokemon Go's 'Go Fest') in Indianapolis Indiana. With it, Dragons swooped in!

The festival introduced four different breeds, to become region exclusives after the event's close. That's not all; progress made throughout earned several in-game rewards, available to players across the globe.  Attendee efforts also determined which breed of Dragon would head the additional global event, "Day of the Dragons."

Upon arriving at the event venue, players were greeted in-game by Charlie Weasley- the renowned Dragonologist- who announced that the Calamity has now made off with Dragons! The species at large are the Chinese Fireball, the Welsh Green, the Peruvian Vipertooth, and the elusive Antipodean Opaleye.

Wizards united throughout the two day event, completing a stream of 'Special Assignments' including collecting Dragon Eggs from Portkeys and battling various Dragons within Oddity encounters. After the event's close, the Dragons began journeys back to their native regions. You can find your native species at the Harry Potter: Wizards Unite official site. Global bonuses earned throughout the festivalwere activated on September 2nd, remaining active until September 9th. Bonuses include: +25% XP, 1/2 Potion brewing time, 1/2 Portmanteau walking distance, and a 2x Dark Detector duration.

The greatest reward unlocked, was the additional  three hour global event 'Day of the Dragons', on September 7th. This in-game event offered a chance at encountering one Dragon breed from another region. Efforts made at the festival determined the Chinese Fireball would migrate to the various regions- its native region recieving sightings of the Antipodean Opaleye instead!

These string of in-game events and rewards have been a success amongst avid fans. With an appearance from a beloved Weasley and several familiar Dragons from the books, there's plenty for fans of the Harry Potter series to latch onto! The Fan Festival also built a stronger community base, through various co-op assignments and unlocking global rewards for all to enjoy. Many Pokemon Go players had been contemplating how 'regionals' might translate into Wizards Unite, when Wizards was centered around stolen memories, as opposed to creature-types and correlating habitat.

Wizards Unite's core fan base was thrilled to see Ron's dragon-loving brother make a suiting appearance for his introduction. Some gripe, concerning Dragons' regional exclusivity, when Oddity Foundables are already rare. One opposition is that Dragons are already naturally regionalized- in the Wizarding world- and would not be seen flying about everywhere. Others argue that travel is heavily encouraged by Niantic- the developer for both games- and could even be considered a requirement of the game.
