Bring Your Best Keanu To DreamHack's Cyberpunk 2077 Cosplay Contest

The upcoming DreamHack Winter is having a big cosplay contest sponsored by Cyberpunk 2077, as well as live gameplay.

While gamers in the U.S. have turkey, awkward political discussions, and crazed shopping happening this weekend, Swedish gamers get the much nicer DreamHack Winter. The yearly gaming festival will take place in the city of Jönköping from November 29 to December 1. There will be big esports competitions, parties, and free tattoos courtesy of Kojima-approved Monster Energy. There will also be a sizable Cyberpunk 2077 presence including a live gameplay demonstration and contests.

DreamHack announced that this year's winter festival will feature a lot of Cyberpunk 2077 thanks to Bandai Namco and CD Projekt Red's involvement. The main attraction will be 45 minutes of Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay shown on stage. This will happen once a day for all three days of the convention. Aside from that, two booths are going to be decked out in the cyberpunk aesthetic and offer themed merch and prizes. Finally, there's that cosplay contest.

Cyberpunk 2077 will be sponsoring the DreamHack Winter Cosplay Championship as well as the PC Mod Championship. While the cosplay contest is self-explanatory, the PC Mod Championship appears to be focused on creating an aesthetically-appealing case and parts setup for your PC.

Yet despite the fact that Cyberpunk 2077 is sponsoring, neither the prizes nor the rules are cyberpunk-themed. The prizes are cash and tickets to other events. Most contestants signed up in advance of this announcement. That means that they chose their outfits without any sort of bias. Still, DreamHack's website says there might be "drop-in" spots for the cosplay contest. So there may be room for at least one cosplayer to impress the judges with an appropriately-timed cyberpunk getup.

Those who aren't into cosplay can still partake in the cyberpunk-themed fun. Norwegian-based electronics vendor Komplett will have a booth decorated to look like Night City. There, players will have the chance to play games of skill and earn "Cyberpunk 2077 Koins." The Koins will be exchangeable for a chance to win rare prizes. The DreamStore, meanwhile, will offer "Black Market" items and showcase Cyberpunk 2077 props. This includes a guitar based on the one played by Johnny "Keanu Reeves" Silverhand himself.

DreamHack Winter looks to be a great time for anyone looking forward to Cyberpunk 2077. Those who can't make it can always take solace in some good deals on a Nintendo Switch and Pop! Vinyl Figures. In the end, we all have to wait until April 16 for Cyberpunk 2077 to release.
