Dreams was first teased when the PS4 was officially unveiled at Sony’s first show in February 2013. Suffice it to say this game has spent a long time in the oven. Last year it went into early access with great praise, and now it is officially out with a full campaign. The reviews continue to be high.

For amateur creators to talented masterminds, Dreams has a lot to offer for everyone. The cool thing about creation is that people can share everything. Want to make an apple someone else can use in their game as a set decoration? That is an option! So, with that in mind, this list will go through several of the biggest PlayStation franchises and track down some of the most interesting fan projects so far.

10 Fallout 4

This homage to Fallout 4, Fallout 4: Dreams Edition, was created by Robo_Killer_v2. Across all projects on Dreams, this is without a doubt one of the most jaw-dropping. It even re-creates the intro menus to the game.

There is a tutorial, various mini-games, and several areas to explore with quests. Besides being chock full of content the look and controls on top of that is also impressive. And this is a work in progress with patch notes and everything, so who knows what this could look like in a year, or even a month.

9 Final Fantasy VII Remake

This homage to Final Fantasy VII Remake, FFVII Dreamake TGS, was created by sosetsuken5360. This demo recreates the boss fight in the remake against Aps in the sewer below Don Corneo's mansion. Players can take control of Aerith, Cloud, and Tifa, with all of their magical abilities on top of being able to Summon creatures like Ifrit. The user also recreated the boss fight against Air Buster if one wants to try out Barrett as well. April is almost here, but this should give a good taste for those eagerly anticipating Final Fantasy VII Remake.

8 P.T.

This homage to P.T., simply titled P.T., was created by lewisc729. Despite being canceled years ago, that has not stopped thousands of fans keeping Hideo Kojima’s project alive. It has been remade before in other games and/or from scratch, renamed as something else. Every time it pops up it never ceases to be amazing, and this Dreams version is no different. In fact, this might be the creepiest rendition yet, as the physics can be a bit wonky, thus adding to the tension.

7 Crash Bandicoot

This homage to Crash Bandicoot, Crash Bandicoot TripSanity, was created by milbox. Like Mario, the amount of Crash Bandicoot content in Dreams is staggering. This demo was chosen because it is a fan interpretation of an actual canceled game in the series. One of the scrapped concepts would have had Crash go inside his own mind. That is exactly what is happening in this game. The controls are a bit floaty right now, but everything else has a good polish to it so far.

6 Resident Evil

This homage to Resident Evil, simply titled Resident Evil, was created by mickaellp. This demo is a bit odd as going through doors is like experiencing a dream in real life that literally transitions randomly. For example, the game starts with Claire. Passing through a door will then morph the game into a dungeon with Jill fighting off rather well-animated zombies with an assault rifle. The hit detection is off, but it is still striking besides that and the jarring transitions.

5 Kingdom Hearts

This homage to Kingdom Hearts, simply titled Kingdom Hearts, was created by YohanLibertto. This isn't quite as majestic as the two Final Fantasy VII Remake demos available. That said, it is still a very interesting demo.

The game stars Riku with a variety of options from swinging his Keyblade to casting magic in the Olympus Coliseum. The animations and controls leave something to be desired, but it is still worth a look.

4 Sonic

This homage to Sonic, Sonic Adventure: Dreams Edition, was created by RichMenace_94 and fivetimesone. Like Fallout 4, this current version of an attempt to remake of Sonic Adventure is coming along quite nicely. Sonic doesn't control the best. He is a little tipsy, but the speed is exactly like one would hope.

There are also several levels already available. Sonic fans are a dedicated bunch, and this might even be more impressive than anything his rival, Mario, has out there in Dreams in terms of content mostly completed beyond a starter idea.

3 Portal

This homage to Portal, simply titled Portal, was created by Peasantslayer. It's a short demo that allows players to solve one puzzle, but for a demo, it certainly has promise. Players can make portals, as one would hope, along with being able to grab the Companion Cube in order to anchor it on the platform button. Again, it is a small step toward what hopefully Peasantslayer, or  another fan, turns into a proper sequel to Portal.

2 Rayman

This homage to Rayman, Rayman 4 Dark Returns, was created by milbox and MrWooshie. Among the other platforming giants on PlayStation including Spyro and Sly Cooper, which there are creations for, Rayman 4 was chosen because he has gotten the shaft as of late. Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends were both great, beautifully made 2D platformers, but the latter of the two launched in 2013. The actual last 3D Rayman game was the third, Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc, in 2003 for a plethora of consoles. There was an HD upgrade in 2012, but the point is fans of 3D Rayman and Rayman in general have been eagerly awaiting a sequel and this user-created game is a nice first step.

1 LittleBigPlanet

This homage to LittleBigPlanet, LittleBigPlanet: Sackboy’s Adventure, was created by LittleBigField. This list could not be complete without highlighting another Media Molecule game. All that is there right now is a level starring the ever adorable Sackboy. Is it crazy to hope that someone recreates the tools within Dreams to create LittleBigPlanet's? Now that would be a crazy loop.
