D&D Beyond's Digital Dice public beta launched two days ago, and as a show of solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement they'll be donating half of all proceeds from the digital dice sets over the next week to said movement.

So far the public beta - which has been made available for all D&D users - has gained a lot of traction and positive feedback from players, and hopefully this initiative of theirs will only push it further over the next week.

This info comes from an update posted on the D&D Beyond site yesterday, wherein the D&D staff acknowledge the immense difficulty of the state of the world recently. Regarding the COVID-19 crisis, they focus on the positivity that D&D has brought to its community as a means of providing great happiness, comfort, and connectedness.

"Knowing that we can bring even the smallest amount of joy in the midst our global situation provides a real sense of purpose," they write, "and we appreciate the reports of happiness brought about by [the digital dice] bouncing across your character sheets more than you know."

They also comment on the most recent racial upheaval gripping our already-very-fragmented-thanks-to-coronavirus world, saying they "stand in solidarity with the Black community against racism, discrimination, and senseless acts of violence."

We are also acutely aware of recent events that call into stark focus the systemic racial injustice that continues to exist in the world. We understand that messaging from companies often lands hollow without action, and we do not wish to remain silent in the face of this.

Since yesterday, new unlockable dice sets such as the Pigment Pack and the Mythic Set have been available via the D&D Marketplace for $7.96 and $14.99, respectively. There are also apparently more such sets to be made available over the next few days.

Their donation initiative will run from now until June 9th 2020.
