According to GamesIndustry.biz, physical sales for Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance were 96% PlayStation, with 54% on PS5 and 42% on PS4. That means only 4% of physical sales made were for Xbox, an unprecedented split.

This doesn't factor in digital data or Xbox Game Pass, hence the emphasis on physical sales. However, even still, such a majority hold from one platform over the other even in physical sales is rare. It may be because it was launched on day one on the aforementioned paid service, but we still didn't see quite a split with the likes of Outriders.

Outriders still sported a hefty divide, though. PlayStation made up 83% of physical sales. Nonetheless, that still left Xbox with a decent 17% whereas here, it has a measly four. Game Pass and the pandemic could be the major contributors here, so we could see physical sales for Xbox games dwindle even further when launched on Game Pass day one in the future.

Back to Dungeons & Dragons. Dark Alliance landed in the number 23 slot in terms of sales this week. The top ten were comprised of Mario Golf: Super Rush, Fifa 21, Mario Kart 8, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Minecraft (Nintendo Switch), Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Grand Theft Auto 5, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury, Resident Evil Village, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. As per usual, Nintendo dominated.

It's also interesting to note that Dark Alliance sold better physically on the PlayStation 5, especially when factoring in that there is a digital variant of the console and an ongoing shortage alongside the problem with scalpers. Nonetheless, plenty of people were swooping them up predominantly for the next-gen platform.

If you're deciding whether to join the swaths of people buying Dark Alliance, we reviewed it here at TheGamer, giving it a two-star review. Eric Switzer stated, "Combat feels floaty, imprecise, and awkward, but in multiplayer, it borders on unplayable."
