DC Comics made a bit of an unusual move last October when it published high-fantasy comic The Last God: Book One Of The Fellspyre Chronicles, and now it's going one step further by creating a Dungeons & Dragons campaign out of the series.

The comic, which is currently in its fourth issue out of twelve, follows a quest to kill the immortal tyrant Mol Uhltep, also known as the last god. It's a dark and in-depth series that has no connection to DC's superhero comics. Instead, it is full of the sort of magic, horror, and lore that perfectly fits a tabletop RPG.

The sourcebook, which is compatible with Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition, will provide players with everything they need to know regarding playable races, subclasses, magic items, and monsters found in the comic. The book, which is titled The Last God, will also detail the history of the world of Cain Anuun, along with its people, map, and schools of magic.

D&D's popularity has been surging as of late, thanks in part to the release of the accessible-but versatile 5th edition, and also thanks to number of D&D Twitch shows and podcasts such as Critical Role, The Adventure Zone, and Acquisitions Incorporated, the later of which have even gone on to create their own official D&D sourcebooks.

While The Last God isn't being released officially by Wizards of the Coast, the fact that DC is choosing to create an RPG supplement goes to show just how popular tabletop RPGs have become in recent years. From showing up in popular TV shows like Community and Stranger Things, to regularly launched new content through the online Dungeon Masters Guild, the RPG is more popular than ever.

The Last God sourcebook will be released on April 29, 2020 by DC's Black Label. The 40-page one-shot supplement will cost just $4.99.
