Having your own mobile base makes exploration a much safer and more comfortable experience, but with so many new spacecrafts to choose from, it's hard to know which suits your needs best. They all require a Spelljammer to mentally navigate the dangers of Wildspace, but after that, they couldn't be more different.

16 Tyrant

These ships are constructed by Beholders out of floating asteroids, using their Disintegration Rays to carve out a hull. Eyestalk cannons protrude from the spherical spelljamming helm, resembling their creators.

This ship ranks so low because only Beholders can attune to the helm, making it useless to any party that may hijack it.

15 Bombard

Despite having a lower Armor Class and slower Fly Speed than the Tyrant, the Bombard ship can be used by any sentient creature. These ships are built by Giff and usually have one purpose: to blow every other ship out of the sky.

With two basic ballistae and a giant cannon, the Bombard can output piercing and bludgeoning damage every round so long as there are at least ten crew members.

For those that patrol the depths of space, the Squid ship provides the means and the damage to take out anyone deemed to be a threat. There's very little room for any crew, but this isn't a craft meant for comfort.

Half of its 250ft length is the trailing tentacles, and the reinforced bow can be used to pierce anything you encounter among the stars. Dealing a whopping 16d10 piercing damage upon running into anything.

12 Lamprey

The Lamprey is an antique design, but a beautiful staple all the same. Unable to land on solid ground, but quite safe on the water, these middling tier ships have one boon most others can't claim; Grappling Jaws.

Requiring just one crew member, the Lamprey's metal mouth can clamp onto a ship or gargantuan sentient creature, rendering it immobile and enabling much safer boarding or more attacks to land.

11 Flying Fish

One of Wildspace's favorite vehicles, the Flying Fish is at home in the sea as much as it is in the sky. Its sleek design allows for speedy travel, though relatively low hit points.

If you've been in Astral Space, you'll have seen many a fleet of Space Galleons. Inconspicuous on the waters of most planets too, it's easy to land and sail into any port to resupply or swap out some stowaways.

With plenty of quarters for guests, 20 tons of cargo space and three weapons totaling 11d10 potential damage, there's a reason this ship is popular with those that earn their living transporting off-world.

One of the best decorated and most flamboyant ships, the Damselfly is surprisingly sturdy despite its intricacies. There isn't much room aboard, but the five ton cargo hold can be adapted into space for more crew, though most have quarters for nine.

There are two basic weapons on board, a ballista and a mangonel, but the Damselfly's main offense is a good defense.

8 Nautiloid

The vehicle of Mindflayers, its awesome design is only suitable for space travel, meaning it can never land. Similar to the Squid Ship, the Nautiloid can use an action to grapple another vehicle using its tentacles, then use one of the four ballistae or the mangonel to attack.

What gets this craft so high up the ranking is that any creature attuned to the ship itself can use an action to teleport the ship and everything aboard to an unoccupied space, or even another plane.

7 Hammerhead

It doesn't forfeit its chances in a fight either, with two mangonel and ballista, while the blunt ramming force of the Hammerhead's head is a further 16d10 bludgeoning. Your regular adventuring party won't be manning one, as the average ship costs around 40,000gp.

Every spaceship is set up with its own envelope of air, providing a suitable environment for whatever lifeforms are likely to inhabit it.

However, this air can become fouled or even deadly, forcing the ship to land before the crew suffocates. The Living Ship has got this issue covered, entwining a Treant into the ship's deck, living and growing with the boat. Every 24 hours, the Treant will filter the air bubble and heal the craft.

5 Star Moth

As with most things created by Elves, their spacecrafts are elegant and delicate. This work of art is light enough to float on water, or softly land to resupply. However, it's so much more than a 40,000gp vehicle.

Star Moths are grown and fashioned from organic elements, their wings made of incredibly thin crystal formations. Surprisingly, it can transport 30 tons and house thirteen crew mates while speeding across space.

4 Scorpion Ship

As efficient on land as they are in the skies, Scorpion Ships are cheap (25,000gp), pretty roomy and great in combat. Their pincers can take any enemy out of action with a grapple, while their tail houses the mangonel, and two ballistae on its top deck. Their speed is nothing to complain about either.

3 Turtle Ship

This ship is one of a kind, able to swim through deep oceans just as easily as it does through space, all while carrying a 30 ton load.
