Standing Stone Games recently opened the portal to Update 48 within the Dungeons & Dragons Online world, which brought with it the Fables of the Feywild expansion. DDO players can now discover portals into the fabled land of myth and legend – the Feywild. Its full of fresh quests, creatures, and augments, including a new wilderness area, public zone, raid, and even a new playable character race.

The new Fables of the Feywild expansion is available to purchase and download from the Standing Stone Games webstore, and comes in three versions. The Standard Edition is priced at $39.99 and contains the Feywild expansion and the new Shifter race. The Collector’s Edition is priced at $79.99 and features the Feywild expansion, Feywild Mosaic Cosmetics, new Shifter race, and the New Universal Tree. The Ultimate Fan Bundle is priced at $129.99 and features the same as the other two versions, and also includes many more items, such as Unicorn mounts (black and white), Cooshee Cosmetic Pet, Displacer Beast Cosmetic Pet, and more. Once you have the expansion, the Update 48: Fables of the Feywild release notes explain you can find your way to the Feywild by visiting “the Hut From Beyond in the Stormreach Harbor.” Once in the Feywild, you’ll have access to 13 new quests designed “for characters of Heroic level 5, and Legendary level 30.” Of course, adventuring in the Feywild means potentially meeting some of D&D’s most iconic fey creatures, including Blink Dogs, Cooshees, Displacer Beasts, Fomorians, Pixies, and Unicorns. You may even choose to enter the Feywild as a new creature yourself, by choosing to roll up a new Shifter class. Shifters, also known as the Weretouched, can transform into various beasts and hail from the original Eberron setting of D&D version 3.5.

Veteran DDO players will want to take note of the significant changes that have been made to the Augment System. In particular, there is now a new way to slot an augment that involves dragging it into its desired slot, replacing the former method of double-clicking to do so.

Streamer VooduSpyce has a Fables of the Feywild expansion first look video posted on their Twitch channel, in case you want to see what it looks like and how it plays before making your buying decision. Forward to the 10-minute mark to get directly to the point where they enter the Feywild.
