The first two adventures of the fifth edition of Dungeons & Dragons are now available as Tyranny of Dragons, a new campaign book that's up for purchase in stores.

Tyranny of Dragons is composed of two connected adventure modules that drag the players into conflict with Tiamat, the five-headed goddess of evil dragons. The first adventure is Hoard of the Dragon Queen and it pits players against a revived Cult of the Dragon, who are attempting to unleash Tiamat upon Faerun. The second adventure is The Rise of Tiamat and the players are forced to gather as many allies as possible for the upcoming conflict with the Cult of the Dragon, as they grow ever closer to completing their nefarious goal. Tyranny of the Dragons offers an epic campaign that can take players from level one to sixteen.

Tyranny of Dragons is a collected version of Hoard of the Dragon Queen and The Rise of Tiamat which is being released to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the fifth edition of Dungeons & Dragons. The page for Tyranny of Dragons on the official Wizards of the Coast website describes what new content was added for this release. Tyranny of Dragons contains a reworked opening chapter, several pieces of official rules errata for both adventures, and concept art that details the creative process that went into designing the campaign.

Tiamat has been a major antagonist in various Dungeons & Dragons adventures and tie-ins, most notably in the Dungeons & Dragons cartoon. There she was one of the few beings with the power to bring the evil wizard Venger to heel. Evil dragons are one of the biggest threats to any Dungeons & Dragons party and Tiamat is their deity, putting her on the same level as some of the most powerful villains in the multiverse.

It's hard to believe that the fifth edition of Dungeons & Dragons is already five years old. This is the edition that helped Dungeons & Dragons win back the ground lost to Pathfinder during the fourth edition years and both Hoard of the Dragon Queen and The Rise of Tiamat were an important part of winning back the audience.

Tyranny of Dragons is available to purchase now from most retailers, or with a special alternate cover from local games stores.
