There are a lot of things to make fun of in Dungeons & Dragons. Edgy rogues, dumb barbarians, or lustful bards are some of the funny stereotypes that fans love making memes for.

Wizards are one of the most versatile and powerful classes in the game, with access to many powerful spells and features. While they are a strong class, they do have their weaknesses and the tendency to cast fireball at any chance they get. So naturally, there are plenty of funny wizard memes on the internet.

10 Evil Wizard

When you're the wizard and the DM tells you the party found the hand of Vecna.

Many players like to play evil wizards who dabble in the darker sides of magic such as necromancy. And if the player knows a little about the lore of Descend into Avernus, they know that the most powerful magic item for them to find in the higher levels is the Hand of Vecna.

This item is so powerful and desirable by evil characters, that they will do anything to find it. and when they do, they will chop their hand off immediately to use this item. If you ever get to the Avernus with a morally grey wizard in the party, prepare for the inevitable.

9 Financial Support

Every Dungeons & Dragons Character has to spend some money to get the best equipment, weapons, armor, and magical items to improve their powers. But no one needs to spend as much money as wizards.

Wizards need money to buy spell scrolls, ink and paper to inscribe those scrolls into their spellbook, and spell components for casting those spells. Playing a wizard is expensive, and they often need to ask their teammates for some extra coins in order to get the spells that they need.

8 Need A Nap

Low level wizards after one combat: I need a nap! Good night!

Low-level characters usually run out of resources really fast. But none of them run out as fast as wizards. With only a few spell slots, they can turn into a firebolt one-trick pony just after a few turns in combat.

While they can get some of these resources back with a short rest once per day, they don't have the replenishing features of a fighter or warlock either. So long and dangerous trips with a wizard often turn into a snoozefest. Literally. They take a lot of naps!

7 Poor DMs

DM: "Alright, he is going to make an attack against you". (Rolls). DM: "He rolled a..." Halfling divination wizard with the Lucky feat: "Isn't that my decision?"

Dungeons & Dragons is a game of chance and dice. But there are mechanics that can turn the player's luck around. Halflings reroll natural ones, divination wizards can replace two dice rolls with their Portent ability, and lucky feat allows the player to reroll three dice per day.

Put those all together, and you create a DM's worst nightmare. This perfect character would almost never fail, to the point of being annoying. While divination wizard's are a powerful subclass on their own, this combination is out right broken!

6 Resource Management Issues

Wizards at the start of the fight: "Spell slots fully loaded with reality bending power." Wizards a few turns later: "Firebolt! Firebolt!"

Wizards are cool. They have access to the most diverse spell list among all characters, and they have a lot to offer in combat. But if the player is not careful, they will become a firebolt machine gun just after a few turns.

There's nothing wrong with casting cantrips. They are usually as powerful as a normal weapon attack. It just sucks to run out of resources early and don't get a chance to nap!

5 Shield Is A Wizard's Best Friend

DM: "Does an 18 hit?" Wizard with the shield spell: "Well yes, but actually, no!"

Wizards are squishy when it comes to taking damage. Because of that, they love to come prepared with the necassary defensive spells. And nothing is more satisfying than deflecting a powerful attack with the spell shield.

If added on top of mage armor, and with a decent Dexterity score, the wizard can get their armor class to more than 20, and surviving a good portion of the attack rolls that the DM might throw at them. So don't leave home without it!

4 Squishy Wizards

Level 1 Wizard: *Stubs toe* Wizard: "Half of my respiratory organs were destroyed."

At first level, the strongest wizards with high Constitution scores rarely get to double digit in hit points. They can easily fall unconcious with one attack, and outright die if they suffer a critical hit in the early levels. While they can become more durable later on with the correct feats and equipment, they are very easy to kill in lower levels.

We all know the pain of hitting the small toe to the edge of furniture. In the Dungeons & Dragons world, it's at least one d4 worth of bludgeoning damage, which can be half of a wizard's maximum hit points in the first level. So they better watch their step!

3 The Dungeon Bugbear

Only YOU can prevent dungeon fires! Kill the wizard first!

We often don't think about the monsters that we fight in Dungeons & Dragons. We just go into dungeons, massacre them all, get the loot or save the kidnapped villagers, and get out. But it's fun to think about what these monsters have to say about the adventuring groups.

This poster is a hilarious example of that. A bugbear warning about "dungeon fires" is the perfect reaction to the typical wizard's love of lighting up everythin they see with Fireballs. They can be serious fire hazards to the natural habitat of most D&D monsters!

2 To Whom It May Concern

An arrow may have your name on it, but a Fireball is addressed to: "To whom it may concern."

Speaking of wizard's favorite spell, Fireball is the most iconic and destuctive spell the wizards get access to as early as the fifth level. The meme perfectly describes the difference between Fireball, and a precise and deadly arrow.

The spell's damage and radius is incredibly strong for its level, and even the game designers of the 5th edition have admitted that the spell was intenionally overpowered because it's such an iconic and historic part of Dungeons & Dragons.

1 Wizards Vs Healers

Wizards: "Look, I've been around the world, okay? Whatever it is, I'll understand." *Basic healing spells* "There's nothing about this I understand!"

Wizard's are usually the smartest player characters in the game, with a deep understanding of magic. But for some reason, they don't have access to any healing spells, and can't learn them.

This is maybe for the best when it comes to balancing the class, but still, even if they could learn healing spells, it's not like they would be using them often. Their prefered magic practices are those that blow stuff up, not the ones that heal!
