Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl have been out for a few days now and there's already plenty of Pokemon masters that have beaten the Elite Four and conquered the Sinnoh Region. It's also been just long enough for players to test the limits of the game's code, and it seems one Pokemon fan has discovered a glitch that lets you duplicate your Pokemon.

Fair warning, this glitch requires you to sacrifice a Pokemon to become a clone, and there's also a chance you'll crash your game in the process. Read on for the details.

Kevinfor5 is the French Pokemon player that has figured out how to clone any Pokemon you already have in your inventory. It involves two PC boxes, the Battle Box, and the Day Care lady.

First, put Pokemon A into Box 1 and Pokemon B into Box 2. Make sure they're in the same slot, just in two different boxes (the top-left corner is a great place to start. Next, register Pokemon A for the Battle Team. Then, speak to the daycare lady and select Pokemon B, but swap Box 1 and 2 while Pokemon B is selected. After that, drop off Pokemon B and leave the daycare. Neither of these Pokemon are going to be cloned, but it's required for the next part in the process.

Now we get to the cloning part. In your PC there will be a Missingno which you must avoid selecting at all costs, otherwise, your game will crash. Don't even hover over it. Its presence is just proof that the glitch is working.

Now select one Pokemon you wish to clone and another that will be sacrificed for the cloning process. Register the "trash" Pokemon to the Battle Team first and then add the Pokemon you want to be cloned. Finally, check the summary of the Pokemon you want cloned. Once you get back to the box, the trash Pokemon will be replaced by the Pokemon whose summary you just checked.

You can see in Kevinfor5's video how they managed to transform a Magikarp into a Manaphy, which is quite the upgrade. You can use this glitch to make copies of Pokemon you want to keep but might be useful for trading. Theoretically, you could also use it to clone Legendary Pokemon you only get once per playthrough.

Don’t expect Nintendo to let this glitch stick around for long though. A patch is undoubtedly on the way, so best to get duping while the duping’s good.
