Dying Light 2 has made many upgrades to its original title. One such upgrade is the dozens of mods available to be placed on weapons with crafting ingredients. Any single mod on this list can turn an objectively bad weapon into an unstoppable powerhouse, and we are going to show you the best of them.

Whether you need to trivialize a boss fight, sneak through an enemy compound undetected, or simply want to watch the piles of undead bodies grow exponentially, this list has something for you. In order to craft all of these weapon enhancements, you will need lots of crafting components so make sure to visit lots of Forsaken Stores and gather everything you see while traveling the city.

10 Spark

Spark Mod Dying Light 2

Spark is a Tip Mod for weapons and can be collected via the Spark Of Invention Side Quest early in the game. As the name would suggest, this Mod electrocutes enemies when the weapon critically strikes. This has the dual effect of dealing damage every second and stunning the affected enemy for about three seconds.

Now that's all fine on its own, but the electricity arcs to close enemies, damaging them as well. Additionally, every enemy in the game is subject to this stun period. Bosses, GRE Anomalies, and even Tanks are stopped in their tracks when electrocuted. This is one of the best mods for DPS output and crowd control.

9 Reinforcement

Reinforcement Mod Dying Light 2

Reinforcement is a Grip Mod. This is not a super flashy upgrade, but it is powerful all the same. This Mod makes it so that your weapon gains double the normal durability. This is great, as there is no way to repair weapons in Dying Light 2.

This means that if you fall in love with a weapon, you will have to say goodbye to it at some point. This is a sad reality to face, but this Mod can help delay the inevitable. This is a great upgrade for those beautiful Artifact class weapons that you can't bear to part with.

8 Empowerment

Empowerment Mod Dying Light 2

Empowerment is another Grip Mod, that does not provide a visible addition to your weapon. That said, it is still very powerful. Empowerment adds base damage to the weapon you apply it to. The amount of damage that is added depends on the upgrade level of the Mod.

This Mod is particularly potent when applied to two-handed weapons. Sledgehammers will suddenly feel more like wrecking balls, and katanas will slice through the undead hordes like cheese. Empowerment will often take the slot that can be used for Reinforcement, so keep that in mind before installing it.

7 Avalanche

Avalanche Mod Dying Light 2

Avalanche is the first blast-type Mod that makes an appearance on this list. The difference with Blast Mods is that they must be charged overtime and then unleashed at the player's discretion. This is different from the previous Mods, as those proc automatically.

Avalanche is a particularly useful mod, as it freezes all enemies in front of the player when used. Frost is a useful elemental effect, but only when it can be used as a splash effect. This is because you can line up power attacks that will deal increased damage, and you will be hindered in that effort if you are still being swarmed by zombies.

6 Inferno

Inferno Mod Dying Light 2

Inferno is the same thing as the Avalanche Mod, except it creates a fiery explosion in front of the player. All enemies caught in the blast will take huge damage, and be set on fire.

Fire is a great elemental effect in Dying Light 2 because it will spread to any other enemies nearby. Inferno Mod is given to you upon completion of The Rain Side Quest. Remember that both Avalanche and Inferno Mods are Grip Mods. They are best used on two-handed weapons that hit slow, and that you are not afraid of breaking.

5 Infected Arrows

Infected Arrows Dying Light 2

There are a few types of elemental arrows, but none are quite as useful - or fun - as the Infected Arrows. These arrows are coated with the Harran Virus. They are useless when used on the infected. Humans are another story.

When hit with an Infected Arrow, humans will turn into Virals. This is great when you need to sneak into a bandit compound and want to cause some chaos. You can hit a human with the arrow, turning them. They will then turn on their allies, and you can choose to sneak by or join the fray with a bit of an advantage.

4 Flame

Flame Mod applied to a machete Dying Light 2

Unlike Inferno, the Flame Mod is used on a weapon's Tip. This means that it is applied to enemies via critical hits. It will set a single enemy on fire, which can then spread to others nearby, though this is unlikely.

Flame really shines when it is applied alongside the Spark Tip Mod listed earlier in the article. Both will be applied at the same time when a critical hit strikes. This means that you can watch an enemies' health bars disintegrate while they cannot move to stop it or hurt you.

3 Bane

Bane Mod Dying Light 2

Bane is a Shaft Mod that charges over time. When unleashed, it will infect all enemies in front of you with Venom, causing them to double over and take damage over time. While doubled over, enemies can be vaulted over and used to perform power kicks and aerial attacks.

Bane is useful not only for its offensive capabilities but also for its utility. All enemies swarming you suddenly become platforms for your Parkour skills, and a new way to travel. Make sure to invest in the appropriate Parkour Skills, before applying Toxic to your weapons though.

2 Explosive Arrows

Explosive Arrows Dying Light 2

Explosive Arrows have some great advantages if you have invested in a ranged build. Explosive Arrows will only explode when they hit an enemy. That means if you whiff a shot they will not explode and attract Virals.

Speaking of attracting Virals, these arrows will attract them when they do explode. This can be used to your advantage in bandit camps and other human establishments. They are also helpful when confronting humans, as they do not go off on a delay like grenades which means that they cannot dodge out of the way.

1 Puff

Puff Mod Dying Light 2

Puff is a Tip Mod that is unleashed after its meter has built up. This mod is an extremely fun one. It unleashes a shockwave that deals massive damage to enemies in front of you.

Along with the damage, it blows enemies backward. By that term, imagine something closer to zombies being picked up and hurled like a baseball by an invisible giant. It is incredibly satisfying to watch the undead fly for multiple meters before crumpling to the ground. This Mod is great for players who have beaten the game and are looking for a fun new way to torment the hordes of Villedor.
