Dying Light 2 is just a few hours away from arriving in the hands of patient players. While the official release is set to take place on Friday, a recent retail mishap has seen the game unofficially arrive a bit earlier than expected. While Techland understands people have waited long enough for this zombie-filled sequel, the developer still asks that they wait to dive into the dilapidated city. At least until a day one patch will eliminate over 1000 bugs and improve the game substantially.

Soon after news broke that Dying Light 2 had been prematurely released into the wild, Techland made a statement on Twitter to urge people to hold off playing. Understanding that fans are eager to “start exploring the city," the developer still asked that players wait for that much-needed day one patch. This would introduce improvements and fixes that would allow the game to be “experienced the way it is meant to be." Of course, people were too eager to dive in, and the Internet is filled with videos and reports of those bugs Techland mentioned like one that halts story progression and another that eliminates the voice-over audio.

While Techland didn’t initially delve into the specifics of what this day one patch would be fixing, it has now shared that the patch will tackle over 1000 bugs and fixes. Per IGN, the developer revealed that over the last two weeks it has “added over a thousand fixes and improvements on all the platforms." Now, with this release day patch, players can expect “another thousand tweaks to go live on consoles within the next few days." Plus, the developer will continue to improve the PC version of the game in real-time.

The official patch notes offer specifics to what is getting tackled in this update. Beyond minor improvements, the patch will fix those dialogues that blocked story progression, resolve issues with objects and AI sinking into the ground, fix the Broadcast infinite respawn story block, and much more.

Dying Light 2 is an ambitious endeavor from Techland, one that will reportedly require 500 plus hours for players to complete. The game will officially hit shelves on Friday for Xbox, PS4, PS5, and PC, with a Switch release happening in the next six months.
