If you've played Dying Light, you probably know that Techland did a good job of supporting the game with new content updates for a very long time. It seems the team intends to keep this tradition with the sequel. The Polish studio revealed that Dying Light 2 will receive a number of content updates, spanning at least five years. So, in addition to being able to play the game for upto 500 hours, fans can look forward to a long period of support and DLC.

According to Techland, fans will get several new story DLC updates, brand-new locations, special in-game events, additional items (cosmetics included), and much more exciting stuff. Obviously, most details are still under wraps for these future plans, so you should expect the team to share more intel after Dying Light 2 is out. Better be ready to play the game until 2027.

It appears that the developers want Stay Human to live a long and happy life, just as its predecessor. For reference, the original Dying Light, which came out way back in 2015, got its latest major update with a new game mode called Hellraid only in 2020 — that's exactly five years after the initial launch. The title is still getting minor updates so far, alongside 'overwhelmingly positive' user reviews on Steam.

Just like the original, Dying Light 2 will offer a co-op mode for the story at launch, with up to four participants able to vote on narrative choices throughout the game. It's quite possible that at least some of the post-launch story DLC will allow for the same shared progression as well.

Dying Light 2: Stay Human will unleash all kinds of zombies on you in just two weeks, starting February 4. The title is available across PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch via the cloud.
