While the Xbox Series X/S and PS5 have sold well, and supply is actually as good as previous generations, demand is higher than ever. This has led to many missing out on getting a PS5 and Xbox Series X, but for those who can't get one now, fear not, as some developers are making it easier for you. Techland has announced that for its forthcoming Dying Light 2, those who purchase the game on PS4 and Xbox One will be able to get free upgrades to the current gen.

The sequel to the 2015 open-world survival game has many fans in anticipation. And from what Techland has revealed, the game will be a huge advancement from the original (maybe too much an advancement in some senses, however). Those who will be playing Dying Light 2 on their PS5 or Xbox Series X/S will have the chance to choose the rendering mode.

The 'Resolution' mode will render the game at 4K, while there is a 'Quality' option that adds ray-tracing, although we do not yet know if this latter mode still sticks to the 4K resolution. The third option is 'Performance' which will find players moving through the open world and taking down enemies in 60 FPS or more.

There are many PS4 owners still out there - more than 100 million, in fact - so those eager to get their fix of Dying Light can get a hold of the sequel fairly soon, and those who might worry they will have to shell out more for the PS5 version when they upgrade to the Sony console need not worry, as PS4 owners will get a free upgrade to the PS5 version. The differences between the two versions can be seen in the video.

Meanwhile, Nintendo Switch owners who are fans of Dying Light will have to wait. Techland announced that the Switch version Dying Light 2, which will enabled by the cloud, will be delayed by six months. This is to ensure the best experience for players on that console. For everyone else, Dying Light 2 Stay Human launches February 4.
