The stream came with a lot of story information, such as how the game takes place in Villedor, the last city of mankind. The events of Dying Light 2 happen 20 years after those of the first game. The main character is Aiden Caldwell, an outcast who is searching for someone from their past. The narrative director said that the player will decide if Aiden becomes a protector of the weak or a dangerous lone wolf.

The game's creators also hyped up the power of player choice on the city itself, saying it would affect the overall state of the land and resources available. Players can also play in up to four player co-op and visit each other's cities to see how they differ.

Other recent news about Dying Light 2 revealed that the story doesn't feature characters from the first game. It will also not have vehicles or firearms, but boasts a map twice the size of the first game's.
