Don't expect your weapon to last very long in Dying Light 2 as it has been confirmed that weapon degradation will feature like it did in the original. This news comes from developer Techland's latest Dying 2 Know More video on YouTube which goes into further detail about what kinds of weapons you'll be able to use in the game.

According to Producer Szymon Strauss, weapons have been drastically overhauled in Dying Light 2 to reflect the passing of time between the first and second games. Instead of simple machetes and wrenches, players will find weapons made from scrap and bits of scenery that have been roughly stitched together.

Strauss explains that standard weapons are still available to find in the game, although they're either rare or very expensive. This then ties into the game's weapon durability systems, with scrap weapons breaking a lot quicker than the higher quality weaponry.

This means that your weapons can break in tricky situations, leaving you unarmed and more vulnerable. However, Strauss explains that there are other methods to take down enemies such as luring enemies around with bait and firecrackers and using the game's verticality to take down enemies.

Strauss also reveals that there are just under 200 weapons for players to craft, purchase, and find throughout the game, with many of them based on weaponry from different historical periods, albeit made with modern materials. Weapons may be breakable in Dying Light 2, but rest assured that there will be plenty of other ones lying around to use if you're in a pinch.

In case you missed the news, Dying Light 2 was recently delayed into 2022. The game was originally set for a release this December but has instead been slightly pushed back to February 4 next year. Dying Light 2 will launch on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X, with a confirmed free upgrade for those who buy the game on last-gen systems
