Dying Light 2 developer Techland is still working hard to deliver new content and update the title for those still jumping and gliding around Villedor. Earlier this year, Techland announced a roadmap of updates that are coming throughout 2023, featuring a bunch of interesting additions and new story content. It's next update promises to deliver to player a new night experience, cranking up the intensity for any of those that step foot into the city in the dark.

Roaming around at night was already pretty spooky, but Dying Light 2 director Tymon Smektała is pretty confident that this new experience will make it "even scarier" for players. Speaking with TheGamer about the horror genre, Smektała explains that Techland plans to "pull out all the stops", and will use new "gameplay mechanics, visual tricks, and audio scares" to make players "shit their pants". That's a pretty promising sign for all of you out there that felt like traversing the streets in the dark wasn't quite intense enough.

"Horror became a huge part of Dying Light’s DNA so we’ll keep it as a part of the experience moving forward," explains Smektała. "Our next update, planned for early summer, is focused exactly on this - we’re ramping up our night experience, making it even scarier. We hope to create a tense experience that will make our players “shit their pants”. We plan to pull all the stops - gameplay mechanics, visual tricks, audio scares. Get ready!"

It's not exactly the most delicate way of saying the new night experience will be scarier, but if you're wanting delicate from Dying Light then you're probably in the wrong place. However, it is a statement that oozes confidence, and it sounds like Techland has plenty of new and interesting tactics up its sleeve to give those of you who dare to explore at night a nice big fright. We'll have to wait and see what devilish tricks the devs have come up with.

As for when we'll get some new story content to sink our teeth into, Techland recently promised that Dying Light 2's second big DLC expansion will launch before the end of the year, also claiming that it will take players to a brand new location and is "unlike anything you have seen in the Dying Light series so far." The developer has also claimed it will be bigger, much more story driven, and will answer some long-standing questions that have been circling around the Dying Light community for a while now. Those are some hefty promises, but Techland sounds more than confident that it can deliver for fans.
