One of the final big press conferences for E3 2019 came from the legendary publishers at Nintendo. The company behind iconic video game characters like Mario, Luigi and Zelda brought a fantastic roster of new games to the conference this year, some that are new franchises to explore, and others bringing the beloved games fans have come to expect back to life once more.
From haunted mansions and the Olympics to Marvel heroes and rich fantasy realms that make their way from large consoles to the massively popular Nintendo Switch console, here are the 10 best games shown by Nintendo.
10 Mario And Sonic At The Olympic Games Tokyo 2020
Mario and Sonic will be heading back to the Olympics this November on the Nintendo Switch as the characters and their supporting cast head to Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020. The game is expected to not only bring back some of the classic sporting events from past games, but include some of the newer sports that will be added to the real life Olympic Games in the future.
While events like boxing, swimming and gymnastics will be returning to the game, other events like surfing and skateboarding will become new events for fans to really enjoy.
9 Animal Crossing: New Horizons
The next game to be shown by Nintendo was none other than Animal Crossing: New Horizons. The game is due out on March 20th on the Nintendo Switch, and in the game’s trailer fans were treated to a whole new list of things to accomplish within the Animal Crossing universe.
From co-op gameplay to crafting and a fully customizable world, (not just your home, but outside your home as well), the game takes place on an island, and unlike previous games players will be able to pick and choose things like their characters skin tone, which is truly amazing.
8 Trials Of Mana
Longtime Nintendo fans were shocked to see that a classic game was getting the remake of a lifetime for the Nintendo Switch, and that game was Trials of Mana. Given a completely HD remake, the game is the third title in the Mana series. The beautiful updated graphics and animation are an instant draw for new and old fans alike.
Controlling up to 6 unique characters who are the heroes of the world, they will have to step forward and face the coming forces of darkness threatening to consume their world. The game is due out on Switch in 2020.
7 Panzer Dragoon For Switch
Another classic game getting the modern touch up was Panzer Dragoon. The iconic game is being given updated graphics and control systems that mirror what modern gamers come to expect from the Nintendo Switch. Stranded on a lone planet, you discover two dragons recently awakened from their slumber, and must use your weapon of the past and armor plated dragon to take down the prototype dragon before it reaches the Tower.
Whether you grew up loving the original game or just have always wanted to ride a dragon like Daenerys on Game of Thrones, this game is due this winter.
6 Contra: Rogue Corps
One of the more mature and fast paced games shown off at Nintendo’s E3 2019 press conference had to be CONTRA ROGUE CORPS. This game shows off an action packed, over the top run-and-gun style game that is both violent yet filled with nostalgic animation and fun gameplay.
Players will get a kick out of being able to play both single player and multiplayer within this game, making this an engaging and social game like no other on the Switch. That’s right, the game is all set to premiere on September 24th, 2019 on the Nintendo Switch console.
5 Luigi’s Mansion 3
One of the more popular Nintendo franchises made an appearance at the conference, as Luigi’s Mansion 3 debuted at E3 2019. Set in a world where Mario invites you to a fancy hotel, only to discover it is truly haunted and your brother and friends have gone missing, Luigi must navigate the haunted halls of the hotel and find a way to save everyone.
The game showed off at least three new attack moves, Gooigi the green gel like doppelgänger who helps navigate through countless puzzles, and more. The game is due to release Holiday 2019 for the Nintendo Switch.
4 The Witcher III: Wild Hunt Complete Edition For Switch
One of the biggest pieces of news to come to the Nintendo stage at E3 2019 had to be the reveal of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt: Complete Edition for the Nintendo Switch. Long rumored and talked about, the multi-winning game of the year recipient makes its way to the Switch at long last.
Set in a dark fantasy world, the game includes all downloadable content, and will allow fans of the game and series to take their passion for the story on the go. The game is set to release sometime in 2019 on the popular Nintendo Switch.
3 Alien: Isolation For Switch
Truly a shocking revelation, one of the more popular horror games to hit the industry in recent years is making its way to the Nintendo Switch. Alien: Isolation is the horror game set years after the original and iconic film Alien. Playing as Amanda Ripley, daughter of Alien hero Ellen Ripley, finds herself stranded on a station where an alien outbreak is occurring.
The game released years ago, and yet its popularity in the horror game community has never wavered, making this the perfect game to take on the go. Look for the game to hit the Switch in 2019.
2 The Legend Of Zelda: Links Awakening
While a sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was announced, not many details were released at E3 2019. However the franchise did not hold back on another game, as The Legend of Zelda: Links Awakening premiered at the conference for Nintendo.
The game brings a whole new art style and animation to the franchise, and showcases some fun puzzle solving, fighting and other unique gameplay pieces. One of the most fun things about the game from the trailer whoever was the ability to build custom dungeons, and then explore them to earn some pretty fantastic prizes.
1 Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order
Much like Marvel’s The Avengers was the hit of Square Enix’s conference, Nintendo’s best game of E3 2019 had to be Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order. The game is the third in the franchise, and will be coming to the Switch for the first time in the series history.
While the game seems to be loosely based on comic events like Infinity or the popular MCU film Infinity War, the trailer included many surprise heroes and villains, from villains MODOK and Mysterio to heroes like Miles Morales (Spider-Man), Kamala Khan (Ms. Marvel), and Gwen Stacey (Spider-Woman).
