EA has confirmed that it will continue "investing" in the Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order games.
The news came out of EA's most recent conference call which was covered by Daniel Ahmad, where the studio discussed the performance of some of its recent titles, as well as hinting towards future projects. Within the conference call, EA made direct reference to Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order.
According to Daniel Ahmad, EA said that it "will continue to invest in the Jedi Fallen Order franchise". Nothing else was announced in regards to any future games, but it's another soft confirmation that we'll be getting more from Cal Kestis and the rest of the Mantis crew. This isn't the first time that EA has made comments about the future of the series, as it earlier called the game the "first title in an entirely new franchise".
Rumours have been circulating for some time now regarding a sequel to Jedi Fallen Order. We know that Respawn Entertainment is working on a new game, but curiously it seems like it's unrelated to Star Wars, and is instead a new title set in a "unique universe".
It's possible that the claims of it being a new IP are just to throw people off the idea that a sequel is being worked on, but considering EA's openness about the game here, it's likely that they're not that concerned with people knowing that more is on the way. Considering Jedi Fallen Order has been cited as one of the main reasons why EA chose to take a chance on a project like Dead Space, it's always been pretty clear that more was going to be coming, but it's still nice to see EA be upfront about it.
EA also confirmed in this conference call that Respawn Entertainment's other focus, Apex Legends, has earned nearly $2 billion over the past two years. The success of both Jedi Fallen Order and Apex Legends is cementing Respawn as one of the key developers over at EA.
