EA is rebranding its Origin and Access subscription services to be called EA Play, which won’t be confusing at all.

As with many big publishers these days, EA has a game subscription service that you can purchase for access to their vast library of games. EA Access is for consoles (namely the PS4 and Xbox One), while EA Origin Access is for PC. Origin as a brand has been on a long, steady decline for EA, and with EA’s library arriving on Steam and this latest rebranding announcement, it looks like Origin is soon going to go the way of the dodo.

EA has just announced that both EA Access and EA Origin Access are going to be rebranded under a single name: EA Play. Both will still offer the same things, which is a subscription service to EA's library of games, early access to new games, and a 10$ discount on anything in the digital store.

Origin Access Premier will be renamed EA Play Pro and provide players with some additional bonus content, access to an even larger library of games, and more than just 10 hours of early access to unreleased games.

EA explains that the switch is just to "streamline their services" by moving everything to a single brand, but we're pretty sure it's to just move away from Origin so that it's easier for EA's customers to keep track of what's going on.

But besides the name change, EA plans to add more stuff to EA Play in the coming months, "starting with exclusive in-game challenges and monthly reward drops for members on select titles." The company mentions NFL 21, FIFA 21, and Star Wars: Squadrons as the first titles to benefit from this exclusive stuff.

Some of you might recall that EA’s annual E3 press conference is also called EA Play. However, since E3 was canceled due to COVID-19, it’s been rebranded as EA Play Live and is also happening a little more often than just once every year. The next EA play is set to take place tomorrow and provide us with more info on EA’s next-gen titles.
