EA and Respawn Entertainment are set to unveil the latest entry into the Star Wars franchise later this week.

EA doesn’t exactly have the best track record when it comes to making Star Wars games. Battlefront 2 was pretty much an unmitigated disaster right from the get-go, with controversies over quality, lack of content, and heinous monetization in the form of loot boxes.

Two years later and people tell us that EA has backtracked on a bunch of the worst aspects of Battlefront 2, but it’s still nobody’s idea of a “great” game.

But we’re told that this latest game is going to be different. First off, it’s a single player action game a la God of War. And it also has God of War’s director, Stig Asmussen, at the helm.

It’s also being made by Respawn Entertainment, the same guys that brought us Apex Legends. You might have heard of it as the biggest thing to hit the Battle Royale genre since Fortnite.

What we know other than that can fill a thimble, but we’ll divulge what we got. The game will be called Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and it will take place shortly after the events of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. Order 66 has ended with every clone warrior in the Empire turning on their Jedi overlords and murdering them in cold blood. You play as a young Padawan who survived the massacre and has to lay low while the Sith take over.

Fallen Order’s official Twitter channel tweeted out an image of a broken lightsaber over some sci-fi/fantasy-esque runes with the message: “Don’t stand out.” Presumably, that refers to the main character’s desire to stay hidden to prevent from being brutally killed.

We’ll find out more on Saturday, April 13th at Star Wars Celebration 2019 in Denver, Colorado. That’s where EA and Respawn will take the covers off their latest Star Wars baby. You can also tune in at EA’s official Star Wars Twitch channel to get the full reveal at 1:30 PM local time.
