The MOTHER/EarthBound series has mostly been ignored by Nintendo, despite the vocal fan community that has built up around the games over the years. It seems as if another company will finally be giving Ness and his friends the recognition they deserve, as Funko Pop may be creating figures based on EarthBound.

This information comes from Funko Pop's latest investor presentation, which can be found online. This PowerPoint provides information about Funko Pop's business model, as well as the licenses they own when it comes to making figures. The 12th page of the document lists some of the most prominent licenses owned by the company, which includes the logo for EarthBound.

This seems like too big of an oversight to be a mistake. The page in question contains logos for some of the biggest brand names on the planet (such as Disney and Sony) as well as those for specific licenses, like Astro Boy and Red Sonja. Could someone have really accidentally included the logo for a Nintendo game with a cult following on such an important page? Wouldn't that document have gone through numerous hands before it was shown to investors?

Funko Pop has yet to confirm whether EarthBound's inclusion in the presentation was deliberate or not, despite numerous questions being posed to them on social media.

If this report is true, then we will almost certainly see Funko Pop figures of Ness, Paula, Jeff, Poo, and Mr. Saturn. It's also possible (but less likely) that we will see figures of Pokey/Porky and a Starman. We likely won't see any figures of Giygas, unless Funko Pop has no problem releasing a box filled with a picture of a screaming red face.

It remains unclear whether this was a simple error on behalf of the people at Funko Pop, or if there really are EarthBound figures in development. It's also unclear whether this would extend to the characters from EarthBound Beginnings (which finally a saw a release on the Wii U in 2015) or to any of the cast of MOTHER 3, which has still yet to see an international release.
