If you want your Pinnacle-tier reward in Destiny 2’s Nightfall: The Ordeal, then this is the easiest way to get it.

Nightfalls are like Vanguard Strikes, only harder. At least, that’s the way they’re billed to new players. They’re also a series of progressively harder challenges for veteran players to test their mettle in Destiny 2’s premiere PvE experience, providing a timed challenge with escalating rewards.

If you do well enough, you even get Destiny 2’s highest bling: a Pinnacle-tier reward.

But Nightfalls aren’t for the faint of heart. With difficulty ranging from Power Level 750 (the new “base” as of the Shadowkeep expansion) all the way to 980, even level-capped veterans can find themselves in over their heads.

Pinnacle rewards are a strong draw, however. Every week, Nightfall: The Ordeal will offer a Pinnacle-tier reward to anyone who can complete a Nightfall with a final score of 100,000 or above. Getting to that score often involves running the Nightfall on the highest of difficulty settings due to the higher possible scores offered from killing more powerful enemies.

However, one Redditor has an interesting strategy to obtain that Pinnacle reward on lower difficulties: just kill everything.

One of the tactics employed by veteran players is to simply run the highest possible difficulty Nightfall and complete it as quickly as possible. At Power Level 980, simply killing the boss is often enough to provide a final score of over 100,000. It also circumvents one of the challenges provided in Nightfalls which is an 18-minute time limit. Take any longer and you’ll progressively lose score until you wind up with zero.

Redditor mrrebuild instead suggests taking a measured approach to Nightfall: The Ordeal. Run the Nightfall at Power Level 920, but take your time efficiently exterminating every enemy you encounter without going over the 18-minute mark. Manage to kill everything and you should hit the 100,000-point threshold.

The top comments also suggest adding Masterwork weapons and using subclasses that generate a lot of light orbs to better your chances of reaching 100,000. This provides the best chance for lower-level players to obtain that Pinnacle reward.

Veteran players debate whether or not 950 is easier to do within the time limit as finding every single enemy on 920 can be a pain. Try it yourself to see if getting a 100,000 Nightfall score on Power Level 920 is possible.
