A new video that includes more than 11 minutes of gameplay from eFootball is receiving heavy criticism from hopeful PES fans.

The football game world might well be about to receive one of its biggest shakeups ever later this month when eFootball arrives on the scene. Efootball is Pro Evo with a whole new name and an entirely new setup. It will be free-to-play when it launches on consoles and PC on September 30, and although it will be limited at first, various modes and features will be added over time.

Even though eFootball's launch is only a few weeks away at this point, very little of its actual gameplay has been shown off. However, the 11-minute video below, which was posted by Chinese YouTube channel Great Game, appears to showcase a lot of it. Those eagerly awaiting what might well be an alternative to FIFA in the future are not impressed.

Even though eFootball is the spiritual successor to PES, it has been labeled as an all-new football game. However, those familiar with PES who have watched the video above can't help but notice there are an awful lot of similarities. The cutscenes in the game are the same ones that have been used for PES titles since 2014, and one commenter thinks the animations are worse than the ones that were used in PES 2018.

Other elements of the game that have been criticized include the odd ball physics and a lot of hate for the circular player icons. An extensive breakdown of pretty much everything potential eFootball players are worried about can be found in the thread above. There is hope though, as some believe since it is a recording of a screen, it's a version of eFootball that was never meant to be shown to the public.

There has also been talk that the version on show is for PS4, so bad news for anyone who plans on playing eFootball on the last-gen platform. Other evidence suggests it is the PS5 version being played in the video, though. The rapid loading times and lack of transitions between the ball going out of play and goal kicks suggests it is next-gen eFootball. You will be able to play the game for yourself on the platform, as well as Xbox One, Series X|S, PS4, and PC for free from September 30.
